It was during a summer day at the beach with friends that Paul-Ann and Christopher’s paths would cross. Paul-Ann, about to take her first steps onto the hot sand, was approached by Christopher who offered his assistance with carrying her beach items. The gentlemanly gesture, along with Christopher himself, caught the eye of Paul-Ann. They then began a game of frisbee that lasted hours – long into the setting sun. At some point it had become more than just a simple game of catch, it was a connection neither wanted to let go of. That day on the beach opened the way to a first date, where they “spent the entire night talking,” lost in each others presence – where they have remained ever since…
Read all about Paul-Ann & Christopher’s love story, proposal, and experiences in their eternal elegance New York wedding.
Bride & Groom: Paul-Ann & Christopher
Occupations: OBGYN & NYPD Police Officer
Wedding date: Wednesday, September 26, 2018
Wedding location: The Adelphi Hotel, Saratoga Springs, New York
How did you meet? The couple first met up when with their group of friends at Long Beach for a day of fun in the sun. As Paul-Ann approached the hot sand, Christopher appeared and offered to carry her cooler and heavy bags. He invited her to play a game of Frisbee, which she accepted. The game lasted three hours straight, until sunset. It has since become known among friends as “the epic game of catch.” And even though they didn’t know it at the time, that was the very moment both of their lives changed forever. Soon after they had their first real date, and spent the entire night talking. The conversation was so intense that they closed out not one, but two venues. That evening they realized that this person was someone very special indeed. Someone they might even consider spending all their free time with.
Tell us about the proposal. Christopher waited for Paul-Ann to be done with all her medical school exams to pop the question. On a beautiful afternoon date, walking through The High Line park, Christopher got on one knee and surprised Paul-Ann with a sincere proposal and beautiful ring.
Describe your wedding attire. Ceremony – Paul-Ann wore a mermaid, strapless, beaded-bodice, bridal gown with a sweetheart neckline by Maggie Sottero. Reception – A vintage find to which she made her own by adding custom straps and accessories.
Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding? Jumping the broom was an ethnic tradition we had incorporated into the ceremony. Once the ceremony was done, we had a few moments to ourselves to take it all in before pictures continued. We were looking forward to the reception. Our entrance would set the tone for the celebration that would come soon after. We planned for every bridal party member to carry their home country flags as they made their way into the ballroom. Our heritage is one we are incredibly proud of and we always find ways to demonstrate it.
Wedding party gifts: Bridesmaids: Paul-Ann made care packages complete with their favorite makeup items, jewelry, robe, and tank top for the day of the wedding.
Groomsman: Christopher had bespoke dress shirts with their initials made from Tom James Clothiers along with their favorite Cognac.
Gifts for each other: For Christopher: Custom Cufflinks in the form of a shield with his police plaque numbers. Paul-Ann had his original wedding band replaced with a diamond encrusted band and gave it to him as a surprise during their ceremony. For Paul-Ann: Diamond Bracelet
Ceremony entrance song: For Processional: “When I Fall in Love” by Ofelia Marsh. For the Bride: “Beautiful in White” by Shane Filan
First dance song: “Don’t Change” by Music
What is your best memory from your wedding? Paul-Ann: “The look of elation on Christopher’s face the entire evening. Even with the pouring rain and a small time set-back there was nothing that could remove that smile from his face, and it made me feel loved and confident that I was marrying the right man.”
Christopher: “Being able to celebrate our wedding our way and enjoy ourselves with our friends and family. Once the DJ got the party started, we forgot the world existed and rejoiced in love and happiness.”
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? The day goes incredibly fast. Take a moment to yourselves to realize the magnitude of love in the room and amongst you.
