Jacqueline and Michael can thank Katie Couric for bringing them together. They met at a happy hour in Washington D.C. on a random night out with her girls. “One of my friends mentioned watching The Katie Couric show and the segment was about “getting the guy you want”. The guest mentioned you need to eye the guy you want from across the room, call him over and compliment something about him….his eyes, his clothing, anything,” Jacqueline shares. They decided to try it that night when another one of Jacqueline’s girls spotted Michael from afar. “Call him over, I think there is something special about him,” her friend insisted. Jacqueline called him over and put all that she learned from Couric’s show to work. She complimented his grey and white pinstripe blazer and so it began.
The couple wed on the grounds of the Rose Hall Great House in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Jacqueline’s bridesmaids donned blush dresses, coordinating with the blush ties of her groom and his groomsmen. The scenery and celebration made this blush wedding in Montego Bay every bit of the beauty you may think it is.

Tell us all about the proposal!
Michael proposed the day before his birthday (January 5th) while we were on vacation in the Dominican Republic over a candle lit dinner beside the ocean. It took me by complete surprise because we had officially been an item for only 5 months at this point. He made sure to tell my family what he had planned which was the cherry on top.Describe your wedding dress. What was wedding shopping like for you?
I wanted a sexy fitted lace dress. That moved well for a Caribbean wedding. It had been my vision from the moment I started looking. I found my Enzoani Dakota dress at Love Couture Bridal in Potomac, Maryland. I knew the moment that I put it on that it was the one. I could move in it and Vera the seamstress made sure it fit like a glove.Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding?
Michael and I are both of Caribbean decent. He is from Guyana and my family is from Jamaica, so we knew that we wanted a destination wedding and we decided it would be in Jamaica. It was the best decision that we could have made. Instead of a wedding that lasts one day (two if you count the rehearsal dinner) we had an extended weekend experience that our guests still talk about to this day. What is your best memory from your wedding?
My best memory from our wedding is how happy and beautiful everyone was. I guess at the time everyone could totally use the vacation (which explains why we had 122 guests present) but everyone was so happy and really seemed to enjoy the events each day. There were virtually no issues whatsoever. It was very heartwarming to see and made our special day even more special to see everyone in just as much bliss as we were. What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples?
At your wedding at some point, take your hubby or wifey aside and take a look around at everyone who is in attendance and really take it in that these people all loved you enough to come and celebrate the both of you, take in the sights and details of the wedding as things happen, it goes so fast and before you know its done! I can honestly say I remember the details and I am so grateful that I can say that it was not all a blur as I’ve heard people say. Also, communicate about EVERYTHING. Never think you know how the other person feels or what they are thinking, just ASK and TALK about it.
