Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. As fate would have it Cherrell and Ricky’s love story began in 2012 in St. Louis, Missouri. They were introduced during a small gathering at a restaurant by Cherrell’s sister, Cierra, who also happens to be Ricky’s close college friend. Over the course of several months, Cherrell and Ricky would see each other in passing at group gatherings and engage in casual conversation. Eventually, the exchanges turned into some of the best conversations the two ever experienced. As the course of their friendship progressed they began to develop a strong interest in each other. In February 2013, Ricky finally made his interest in Cherrell known. He asked for Cherrell’s number and they began to converse via text. Cherrell, who had just celebrated her birthday days prior, would often joke that Ricky should purchase her flowers as a birthday gift. Determined to make a lasting impression Ricky showed up to Cherrell’s doorstep with the most gorgeous floral arrangement she had ever seen. After successfully sweeping her off her feet with the bouquet of roses Ricky charmed Cherrell even further by asking her on a date. Valentine’s Day of that year marked their first date. There were immediate sparks. The date solidified their connection and the two were inseparable. Since then the two have shared some of the most beautiful moments together including cultivating a new life with God and two beautiful children. Ricky proposed during an intimate dinner at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse with family.

What is your best memory from your wedding? We were blessed to have a beautiful wedding day from beginning to end. Our favorite memory of our wedding day was our ceremony. We had an intimate ceremony with family and friends on the rooftop of the Four Seasons Hotel located in downtown St. Louis, MO. Our guests were serenaded with live music from a violinist as they overlooked the Gateway Arch and the Mississippi River. The view was absolutely breathtaking but it was no comparison to the love in the atmosphere. Our children filled our hearts with joy and gratitude as they graciously held hands walking down the aisle serving as our ring bearer and flower girl. As the doors opened for the bridal entrance we were overwhelmed with emotion. The moment we locked eyes Ricky whispered to me, “You look beautiful.” We lovingly exchanged vows and professed our love in front of God, our family and friends. It was the perfect embodiment of our love.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? The best advice we would like to pass along to others, especially soon to be married couples, is to always act in love and faith. Choose to honor God, yourself and your partner with every decision you make and enjoy each other every single moment.
