Garrett’s attempt at getting Criston’s attention was sweet to say the least. They met at work, Criston was employed with one of the company’s brands and Garrett had worked in the on-site restaurant. “He was absolutely terrified to approach me, so he kept preparing sweet little desserts and leaving them at my desk. Eventually, after consuming countless peanut butter cookies, and coconut cake, I decided to go find out what he was up to and why he kept trying to feed me,” Criston shares. His exquisite plot brought the two together for what would be a lifetime romance.
The two said their “I do’s” in what Criston dubbs a “Vintorian” wedding planned and designed by Andria Lewis Events. A marriage of vintage and victorian elements made for a gorgeous affair. Blush, fuschia, ivory and gold added to the posh theme. Vintage furnishings tucked beautiful floral arrangements, adding charm to the space.
Coterie member Amy Hutchinson Photography captured the delightful images of Criston and Garrett’s pink vintage and victorian wedding.

Describe your wedding dress style
Vintorian! That’s a mixture of Vintage and Victorian. I love old things, things that have been lived in and loved in. I’m also privy to my own particular style and will most likely go against the grain if given the opportunity. I knew I didn’t want a white/cream/ivory dress, it just wasn’t me. I’m also a lover of dainty things and for as long as I can remember, pink has been my favorite color. I think my dress beautifully reflects my sense of whimsy (that most people don’t always get to see) and my nature to stand out.
Was culture incorporated in your wedding?
Not necessarily “culture” but both of my parents passed away the year before Garrett and I married, and since my mother and I were extremely close we chose to get married on Mother’s Day. That is the last holiday my mother and I shared, and it will live in my heart in such a special way for the rest of my life for two very specific reasons now.
What is your favorite memory from your wedding day?
The moment we said our vows. So many people write their own, and I very adamantly wanted to stick to the traditional vows … if only to keep myself from going on and on. But, I was not prepared for the difference I felt the moment we finished. The moment those last words left my mouth, I felt the same and altogether difference at once. I felt vulnerable, yet fiercely protective of this new reality. I felt so grateful that God chose to give me someone new to love and take care of me after my parents. I felt grateful.
What advice do you have for our brides-to-be?
Don’t sweat the small stuff. You’ve got to live after the wedding. Brides and Grooms have the most critical eyes naturally, but at the end of the day the small things that you labor over, or think went “wrong” most likely went unnoticed. Focus your energy and divide and conquer. Also, allow some room for the groom to be a groomzilla! It’s his day too!
Congratulations to the beautiful couple. Your wedding was gorgeous and we’re honored that you shared your day with us!
