As the saying goes, “family knows best,” certainly rang true for Myrina when her Aunt mentioned that an acquaintance of hers had a son around Myrina’s age that was “cute” and “single.”
Initially brushing off the suggestion, Myrina placed it at the back of her mind until a gathering of family and friends during Labor Day weekend would prove her Aunt to be more than correct. Hosted at the house of who would become her future mother-in-law, Myrina was introduced to Joseph. As he introduced himself, Myrina couldn’t stop smiling at how “handsome” he was, unable to believe that he could be single. Just fondly recalls how Myrina was “the most beautiful girl he had ever seen…in disbelief that she was sitting at his kitchen table…as if God placed her there himself.” A few days later they were on their first date, that led to another, and another, until they became inseparable.

Bride & Groom: Myrina & Joseph
Wedding Location: Winchester, Virginia
Wedding Date: September 1st, 2018
Seeing how it was love at first sight for them both, Myrina and Joseph were quickly envisioning the rest of their lives together. Two years into the relationship, Joseph was ready for the next chapter of their love story, planning the perfect proposal during a vacation on Labor Day weekend – the same holiday of their first meeting. On their last day in the Dominican Republic, while walking to dinner, Joseph led Myrina on a detour along the beach. Watching the last rays of the sun drop into the ocean, Joseph got down on one knee and asked Myrina to spend the rest of their lives together as husband and wife.
Hosted at the luxurious George Washington Hotel, Myrina and Joseph’s timeless elegance wedding featured an ivory, blush pink and gold color palette. Myrina was gorgeous in a mermaid dress with lace applique, crystal beading, full skirt, long train, and completed with a sparkling tiara. Joseph, her handsome husband-to-be, awaited at the altar, where surrounded by the love and support of family and friends, they took their first steps towards together forever.
Best Memories: My favorite memory of our wedding day was, walking down the aisle! When the doors opened in the Church and I saw my husband waiting there for me. It was a memory I will never forget. Everyone stood up and all eyes were on me as I walked down the aisle but my husband and I were looking at each other. He was so happy and proud to see me! It is my most cherished memory yet!
Advice for Engaged couples: My advice to newly engaged couples would be, to have fun and enjoy the process of working together to plan your big day. Planning a wedding can be overwhelming at first but try to remember that it is all about you. Stay true to yourself and do not let other people’s opinions prevent you from making your own decisions. Make them together!
