Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. I knew I wanted Jeff since I first laid eyes on him. There he was standing tall, dark, brawny, and handsome. Because we did not speak, I spent the next three months thinking of ways to connect. Atlanta is a small city, we both had mutual friends, and I knew I would see him again. It was only a matter of time… I finally gained the courage to reach out to him. I got his number from our mutual friend and gave Jeff a call. I only needed one chance to talk to him. We finally met and I reminded him of our first encounter and how I was waiting for the right time to tell him how I felt. I asked him to go out on a date with me, and the rest is history…
Proposal: May 30, 2017. Houston, TX. Very early in the morning, we had received devastating news. Jeffrey’s uncle, “Uncle Avalon” had passed. Uncle Avalon was very instrumental in Jeffrey’s success as a top high school college recruit and college football national champion at Florida State University. We spent the rest of the day trying to enjoy ourselves by visiting friends. He seemed to be in good spirits despite losing his favorite uncle. Later that evening we returned to our hotel room to shower and get ready for a night on the town. While I was in the shower, with my eyes closed, I could hear Jeffrey coming in to join me. He spoke, “babe.” With my back turned and eyes closed as I was washing my face, I turned around and opened my eyes. He was on one knee, “will you marry me?” I immediately said yes! I was so proud of him! Despite having a somber day, he still found the energy and courage to propose. I had no idea! He could have easily waited for a better time, when he felt better. But he didn’t…
What was wedding shopping like for you? My wedding dress shopping experience gave me sleepless nights and plenty of anxiety! I just could not make up my mind. There were so many options and styles to choose from. I finally settled on my dress, and after some customizations, it came out perfect – sexy, mermaid, with extended train.
What is you best memory from your wedding? I decided to color my hair on my wedding day, and it came out GREEN! I cried…I cried…I cried. Like, who does that! I had GREEN HAIR! I was still a beautiful bride.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? To all of my brides….please, please, please hire a videographer. Your wedding day will go by fast, and you won’t get a chance to see and capture every moment. So if you have a video of your wedding, you can see and experience more.
