Tell us how you met and all about the proposal: Aaron’s mother actually introduced us; she was my aunt’s boss and I did her makeup for a couple event. Aaron was in town for his mother’s birthday one year; she invited me to her home for dinner and that’s where we met for the first time. Aaron proposed to me after two years of dating. I was still in my cosmetology program at the time and he surprised me by coming to my school to propose. I was about to start a service for a guest and he came around the corner with red roses, my family, his mom, my classmates, and instructors. He professed his love for me and asked in front of everyone. It was an unforgettable moment. I never thought he could surprise me because he lived out of state and we had to thoroughly plan in order to spend time together but he definitely did that day.
Wedding Style: Describe your wedding dress. What was wedding shopping like for you? My dress was a champagne, strapless mermaid gown with crystals/beading on the bodice. Shopping was actually much easier than I anticipated. I watched a lot of “Say Yes to the Dress” and thought I was going to be one of those Brides who hated everything. I went with my mother, mother-in-law, matron-of-honor and my daughter. I had a fun experience with them and ended up choosing the third dress I tried on.
Culture: Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding? If yes, tell us more. Only with the music. My family is from Trinidad & Tobago so I definitely had to play some Soca for them.
Memories: What is your best memory from your wedding? My best memory was the vows Aaron said to my daughter, Kassidy. It was so beautiful and it made me so happy that he included her in our ceremony. It truly showed not just his love for me but for our new family.
Advice: What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? My advice is to hire a wedding planner! I started off trying to plan my wedding on my own and quickly became overwhelmed. Planning should be fun and although most grooms are just as excited as we are they don’t want to stress about planning either. My planner alleviated my stress so I was able to focus on the important aspects and just enjoy being engaged. I’m so thankful for her expertise. Also, take a moment at the reception to step back and take it all in. It all goes by so fast and I just remember this amazing feeling when I looked around the room at my decor, my guests, and my new husband thinking wow I’m in a fairy tale!

Brittney
I’m planning my wedding and I love purple and loved your bridesmaids dresses. I saw you they were brought from eBay. What made you buy through them and how did you go about that.
Kristina Ross-Jones
Hi Brittney,
Thank you very much! I chose to purchase those dresses from eBay in order to save money. I doubt my ladies will ever wear those gowns again so I did not want to spend a lot of money on them. I went on eBay and typed in purple gowns; pretty simple. Hope this helps!
