Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. Mich and I met on campus at the University of Florida during my senior year of college and his junior year. We became friends and remained friends for about 3 years. He then told me that he was interested in being more than just a friend and soon after we started dating. Fast forward to 2015, Mich paid for a hot air balloon ride in Atlanta, GA, where I currently reside. About 20 minutes after we were up in the air, we decided to take a picture. When I leaned in to pose he dropped down on one knee to propose! Shortly after, he blind-folded me and took me to a surprise party that he orchestrated for me. My friends and family from all across the country were there to celebrate with us. I was so grateful for all of the love and support we received.
What was wedding shopping like for you? Wedding dress shopping was pretty easy. I went to a total of 3 stores, one in Tampa, FL and two in Atlanta, GA. The dress I bought was not the dress I envisioned, but I loved it. A lot of dresses looked nice on me, but only one made me feel both beautiful and sexy at the same time. My wedding dress was a vintage inspired sweetheart trumpet gown. It was ivory with crystal beading mixed with beautiful lace details.
Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding? We passed out a few Haitian flag bandanas to the groom, his cousins, and other guests and waved the bandanas in the air. The DJ also played a few Haitian songs.
Bridesmaids/Groomsmen gifts: The groomsmen received personalized flasks. The bridesmaids received canvas totes, satin robes, coordinating t-shirts, earrings, and Old Navy Flip Flops.
Favorite item on the menu: Shrimp & Grits
First dance song: Mashup of Free Smoke, My Boo, Bet You Can’t Do It Like Me, Juju on that Beat, and Mississippi Slide
What is your best memory from your wedding? My best memory was hearing my Groom’s speech. Seeing him so confident and excited made me so happy. It made all of the planning worth it.
