Yemi and Fred’s love story began when they first crossed paths while attending a gospel concert.

It wasn’t long before their love was sealed and Fred began planning their perfect proposal. Enlisting the assistance of some friends, Fred staged a clever proposal moment, leading Yemi to him where he awaited her on bended knee. Fred and Yemi were pronounced husband and wife during a radiant and romantic ceremony and reception in Humble, Texas. Read all about their love story and wedding experiences!

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. Yemi (Susan) and Fred met at a Gospel Concert. For the proposal, Yemi was at home with her Sister Titi waiting on Fred to pick her up when she got a phone call from Fred telling her that he had been pulled over by a cop and they wanted to arrest him if someone doesn’t come down there to confirm his name. When Yemi got to the location with her sister, she saw him in the back of the police car and the officer started walking over to her asking her questions and then brought Fred out the car and gave us a minute to talk. The first thing Yemi said was “I told you to always have your driver’s license on you!” Fred got on his knees, Yemi turned around in shock to see the officer and saw a friend of her’s instead with a camera (Candor Pictures) then saw her brother. Overwhelmed with joy and the anxiety of what could have been the case, SHE SAID YES!

What was the wedding shopping experience like for you? We didn’t do any shopping, we got our attire all custom made.

Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding? Yes, we incorporated our African Culture (Nigerian).

Wedding Party Gifts: Bridesmaid received bracelets and earrings. Groomsmen received cufflinks and ties.
