Krystal and Jonathan’s week-long Hindu wedding celebration featured sparkling custom traditional and Western attire, a hand-painted crystal-adorned six-tier cake, and vibrant florals!
Krystal and Jonathan’s modern-day love story started through mutual connections on Instagram. Jonathan messaged Krystal about one of her posts, which led them to talk and get to know each other for four months before going on their first date. Krystal shares, “On our first date, we both knew we had found the one.”.
Jonathan orchestrated a romantic proposal and celebratory dinner in Weehawken, New Jersey, at a restaurant overlooking the iconic NYC skyline.
On June 4th, 2022, Jonathan proposed to me in the most beautiful way… Jonathan had told me we were going to a friend’s birthday, and when we got there, all our family were sitting outside Molos restaurant, and there was a red carpet lined with rose petals and candles leading up to a “marry me” marquee.

Krystal and Jonathan’s week-long wedding was a celebration of love, culture, and family. The decor, color palette, and other details of their traditional Hindu ceremony were all inspired by their gorgeous custom attire, creating a harmonious and elegant design.
For their reception, Krystal wore an elegant custom mermaid-style gown with crystal details, which perfectly complemented the impressive chandeliers of the venue. Their six-tier wedding cake was hand-painted and adorned with beads and crystals to match her dress, once again creating a seamless and refined look.

How did you meet?
Jonathan and I met through Instagram, a modern-day love story. We had mutual friends, and he messaged me about something I posted, and I responded. We spent a few months talking on the phone before our first date. On our first date, we both knew we had found “the one.” Our first date was on a rooftop in Queens, NYC, with a view of the city which ties into our proposal.
Influenced by elegance and romance, Krystal and Jonathan’s week-long Hindu wedding included sparkling attire and an extravagant spirit…Krystal trusted her vision and knew all other wedding details would be based on her and Jonathan’s outfits. With elegance at the focus, their looks for the ceremony and reception were entirely custom.

Tell us about the proposal.
On June 4th, 2022, Jonathan proposed to me in the most beautiful way. In front of the city skyline in Weehawken, New Jersey, in front of our family. Jonathan had told me we were going to a friend’s birthday. When we got there, our families were sitting outside Molos restaurant. There was a red carpet lined with rose petals and candles leading up to a “marry me” marquee. He got down on one knee, and I said, “Yes!”. We later spent the evening celebrating with family.
Krystal’s lenhenga was complete with a three-foot train and an even more extravagant cathedral-length veil. She was heavily adorned in jewelry and wore red roses with sparkling floral details in her hair. The bride and groom’s looks were also encrusted with gold and silver embroidery and crystals.

Describe your wedding style.
Our Hindu wedding outfits were matching red custom-made by Nazranaa in New Jersey. Our outfits were heavily adorned in silver and gold crystals, making the outfits very sparkly. My Lengha had a 3-foot train with a 5-foot cathedral veil. Jonathan’s Sherwani was fully embroidered with gold and silver crystals with an “M” monogram on the back of his Sherwani jacket.
Our Reception attire was custom as well. I had my dress sketched and custom-made by Jean Ralph Thurin in Raritan, NJ. My dress was a mermaid style with crystal and beading and with an overskirt. The train for the overskirt was 4 feet long, and my veil was adorned with smaller crystals as well.
Jonathan’s outfit was custom-made by Mohan Tailors in Manhattan. Jonathan went with a white floral Jacquard Tux with black tux pants.
The incredible New York banquet hall, Leonard’s Palazzo, provided exquisite ambiance, as unbelievably oversized chandeliers reflected in rooms of mirrored walls.

Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding?
The inspiration behind our wedding was elegance, romance, and our beautiful wedding outfits. My vision for the wedding came from the way I wanted Jonathan and me to look during our two big events. Both of our wedding outfits for the Hindu ceremony and reception were custom-made and exuded elegance. Even our parents wore custom outfits, and we wanted our wedding to follow that path. My mother was a big contributor to our wedding, she pulled in all of the small and big details to tie together to make this wedding unforgettable and a wedding behind our dreams.
The majority of our wedding details were custom to us. Our invitations were custom-made in India and were sent out to our guests alongside a custom sweet box. We made custom sweet bags in hot pink and orange for our Hindu wedding with our names and wedding dates. Our Mandap was gorgeous, with many flowers in hot pink, light pink, and light yellow. We wanted our Hindu Wedding to be bright and colorful. Our religious singers sat behind our Mandap. Each song was carefully selected by our Priest to match every step of a Hindu wedding ceremony.
What is your best memory from your wedding?
My favorite memories of our wedding were being surrounded by our families. All the love we felt during our special day was so overwhelmingly positive. Our wedding lasted a whole week. Walking out to meet Jonathan in front of the Mandap, and him lifting my veil. Spending a couple of hours upstairs with my mom and dog before the wedding started. Having our first dance. I spent eight hours getting bridal henna done and waited an additional ten hours for it to dry. Dancing a choreographed dance with my mom during our Mehendi night.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples?
My advice would be to follow your heart and go with what makes you happy because when the wedding is done, you don’t want any regrets of not getting the vision you had. Plan carefully, follow up with vendors to make sure everything is in your contracts, and remember to have fun and take in the moments because it’ll be over in the blink of an eye.
