Danielle, a Pediatric Resident Physician at Children’s of Alabama Hospital and Anthony, a Personal Banker at Wells Fargo have saved the date for an April 23, 2016 wedding in Montgomery, Alabama! The lovely couple took to Midtown in Atlanta, GA to marker their engagement and were greeted with showers of celebration from the sky shortly into the session. Making this a memorable session indeed!
Tell us about how you met and all about the proposal!
We first met at Tuskegee’s Homecoming in 2006. I was a freshman at Tuskegee and Anthony was a freshman at UAB. He and a couple of his friends came down to visit. We exchanged numbers and spoke for a couple of weeks on and off, then lost touch. Fast Forward about three years later, Anthony had transferred to Alabama State to play football and we met again in Montgomery at his fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi, party. He gave me his number but I never called. Then in October of 2012, I received a Facebook message from Anthony, checking in to see how I was doing. We again exchanged numbers, only to my surprise, I still had his number. This time, I used it, and we talked non-stop until our first date.
Anthony proposed on our two year anniversary. He planned the whole evening, starting with dinner in Uptown Birmingham. After dinner, we went for a walk at our favorite date night spot, The Vulcan Park, which overlooks the entire city. We stood at the railing for a while reminiscing about the last two years together and even laughed about when he first told me (in the first couple months of us dating) that one day I would be his wife. He invited me to go over and sit on one of the park benches and followed me over. As I turned to sit, he was down on one knee, ring in hand, asking me to spend the rest of my life with him!
The engagement session…
We were going for something modern and elegant. I’m a Pinterest fanatic and fell in love with the tutu skirt engagement pictures. So I sent the pictures to Liz, our photographer, and she immediately had the perfect location to make this idea come alive! We checked the weather and knew it would be cloudy but the drizzling rain was a total surprise. We were determined to make it work. I just so happended to have a spare umbrella in the trunk to try to salvage my curls and it ended up being the highlight of our session!
What did you do on your first date?
We met at Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the Alabama vs LSU game!
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
We love to watch football, Scandal, and The Have and the Have Nots!
How has wedding planning been so far?
Wedding planning has been going well. Anthony and I welcomed our first son, AJ, in April of this year, so planning was initially put on hold. But since then, I’ve been blessed to have some amazing family and friends that have been willing to help whenever I need them. There is still so much to do!
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day.
I’m most looking forward to walking down the aisle and becoming Mrs. Speight!
