When Chauncey met Jermaine, she was somewhat wary. After all, she had already been told that this man was a natural charmer and ladies’ man; she would have to tread softly here. Eventually, that wariness gave way to a great platonic friendship, which eventually became a true romance and great love. Chauncey and Jermaine’s Atlanta wedding was photographed by Jamie Howell Photography.

How They Met ….. “It was a Friday afternoon in August of 2008 and I had just gotten out of the hospital. Third year of medical school had just started and it was already driving me and my friends to drink, lol. We did a quick change and headed to one of our fav places in Nashville, Sambucca ….. [Our friend] Jeanene was going to meet us later, because she had a wedding to attend. She said she was headed our way with a few of her guy friends from college, but she warned that one friend in particular was handsome, but a bit of a “Ladies Man” and that we should all beware. When Jeanene arrived, she introduced us to her friends from college JT and Artie. My jaw dropped when I saw him the first time, but I knew he was the one with the shaky reputation, so I kept it cool. He introduced himself as JT, and I quickly responded: “No, what is your REAL name: the one your mama gave you?” He said with a laugh: “Jermaine.” He and his friend seemed pleasant enough, and we all engaged in some playful banter. By the time they were all leaving , we had hit it off, and I was sad to see him go. They left, but promised to meet back up with us later that night. That night, we had the most amazing conversation. As you can see from the photo, he was clearly smitten (Lol). We literally ended up talking until the sun came up. He was heading back to Houston that morning and I was so sad to see him go. We promised to stay in touch but didn’t talk for awhile since I knew he was dating someone else, and so was I. The next couple of months we developed the most amazing friendship over the phone. We both eventually became single, and the rest is literally, history! The moment I stopped looking for love, it landed literally in my lap and I’ve never been happier! I know that everything about our relationship was divinely orchestrated by God, and I will spend my whole life trying to be best possible wife I can be. He is my perfect complement, and brings things out of me I didn’t know were there. He is my King.”
The Proposal ….. “It was late February 2011 and I was headed home to Georgia to see my family. I was excited because I hadn’t been home in awhile. While on leave, I decided to meet up with my friends in Atlanta before I headed back to Texas. While there, Jermaine’s plan was to fly in to see his parents on the weekend. After spending the week with my parents, I planned my weekend girls’ getaway to Atlanta. My sister was in town, so she was going to come along and we were super excited. The Friday before we were heading up, Jermaine called and told me he’d have to stay in Houston, and that I should just go have fun with my friends. I was sad, but decided to press on with my plans. My parents told me that they were going to Atlanta too, to spend the weekend with some family friends. At this point, I was still clueless. So the 4 of us hopped in the truck on Saturday morning, and made the 2 hour trip to Atlanta. When we arrived, my sister and I met up with my friends and bid my parents farewell. While at the mall, my friends kept insisting we were going to have an “epic” time, and that the dress I had packed for our “all-girls” weekend just wouldn’t do. So, I got a dress, and got my make-up done, in anticipation of a memorable night on the town. I didn’t suspect anything, mainly because this was kinda our routine when we got together anyway. We left the mall, got all dolled up, and headed to dinner. When we walked in to the restaurant, a hostess directed us to a tent at the back. I thought, “Man, this is a nice place.” Little did I know, once the tent opened, Jermaine would be on his knee and 50 of my closest family and friends were there to witness it all. I was so surprised and overwhelmed by the amount of love and support in the room. It truly was an AMAZING night.”
Wedding Details ….. “When we started to plan our wedding, we knew that we wanted it to be traditional and modern all at the same time. The goal was to make it a mix of my style (Southern Elegance) and his (City Chic). Through some creative planning and overall design, this was definitely achieved. We live in San Antonio, Texas but are both from Georgia, so we made many trips to GA for vendor meetings. Our wedding planner, Krystal Bonner of Phoenix Forrester Events, was the most amazing resource throughout the process. She coordinated meetings, negotiated contracts, and made the process virtually stress-free. Another important thing to us was that the day was enjoyed by everyone who attended (not just us). We have a colorful group of friends and family, and we wanted them to have a ball with us….MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.”
Unforgettable Moments ….. “There were so many amazing moments. Our reception was amazing from start to finish….the perfect ending to a storybook day.”
{You Make Loving You So Easy}
