Actresses Lea Michele and Zoe Saldana were crowd-stunners in figure-hugging, floor-length silver ensembles from Lea’s thigh-slit Versace frock to Zoe’s silk organza. These two were my best dressed picks of the night.
Black proved to be a no-fuss game changer thanks to Glenn Close (in Zac Posen), Ashlee Simpson (in Jenny Packham), Stacy Keibler (in Marchesa) Emma Stone (in Alexander McQueen), Angelina Jolie (in Jenny Packham) and Amber Riley (in Badgley Mischka).
Michelle Williams (in Valentino), Sofia Vergara (in Marchesa), Cicely Tyson and Kristen Wig (in Balenciaga) let their accessories be their outfit’s stand-outs. Michelle’s Lanvin clutch and gold chunky linked bracelet worked well with her red outfit and Sofia’s large snakeskin popped against her magenta strapless Marchesa dress. Viola Davis and Kelly Osbourne opted for winter white looks with intricate detailing from Marchesa and Badgley Mischka. I love Kelly’s tassel belt and the antique gold intricate embroidery detailing on Viola’s dress.
Where Gina and Laurence complimented each other in matching black, John let his wife Emily shine in a jade Oscar de la Renta one-shoulder chiffon look.
Rose Byrne and Natalie Portman snagged the most daring looks in beauty and fashion of the night. Rose ditched the usual ball gown for a low-cut embellished ivory Elie Saab jumpsuit and a bold disco-inspired-meets-Anna-Wintour blunt bob hairstyle. Stunning in ruby red Harry Winston jewels, Natalie made a bold statement in a strapless Giambattista Valli gown. Her dress color wasn’t black nor white – two of the evening’s favorite looks.
