Similar interests can certainly create heat between a couple… Just ask today’s couple! Inextricably bound together by their passion to educate the next generation and their love for each other, Kelton and Tonya married in the “City of Bridges”-Pittsburgh, PA. From the infusions of gold to the abundance of purple, this couple made one thing clear-they are true royalty.
Today’s visual delight was masterfully photographed by Pamela Marie Photography and put together by Munaluchi event planning favorite, Shayla Hawkins of Shayla Hawkins Events (SHE). But first things first….meet the couple!
The Meeting… “We met at a cookout my husband was hosting. A mutual friend invited me to attend.”
The Proposal …. “He proposed in front of my parents at the Lemont restaurant overlooking the city of Pittsburgh. It was a total surprise! He thought I knew when he would propose, so he started an argument the night before, so that he [could] catch me off guard … well he did!”
{It’s All in the Details}
The Element of Time… “The most difficult part [of planning the wedding] was finding time to plan the wedding, visit vendors, etc.”
The Colors & Theme …. “Kelton is a member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity which is known for the colors purple and gold. Since the color purple was a must-have in the wedding design, Tonya threw in a few punches of fuschia and pinks to soften it up. Just like the couple, the wedding was bold, fun, unique, and modern. We loved how Tonya was a hands-on, crafty bride. If she had time, she would have loved to DIY everything. Luckily we worked with fabulous vendors to create a modern and sophisticated design that captured the beauty and style of this couple.” -Shayla Hawkins
The Natural Look… “I wanted my makeup to look natural. A good friend of mine who is a makeup artist, worked with me to find the perfect look. My hairstyle was impromptu. I just wanted something that would compliment my tiara and veil.”
{Unforgettable Moments}
The most memorable moment was…. “When I got off the elevators and did not have my bouquet. The church’s wedding committee ran and retrieved several of the pew decorations.”
Marriage and Date Nights …. “We have Friday night dates … we usually eat sushi, watch a movie and just spend time together. It’s a great way to end the week.”
{Advice for Future Brides}
“Get a wedding planner! I couldn’t have pulled off and implemented such a fantastic wedding without Shayla.You don’t want to be worried with the day-of-wedding details.”
Tonya and Kelton, congratulations to you both!!! May the greatest lessons you teach and the greatest lessons you learn with each other be love…love for each other through the ups and downs, the fog and the rain, the green and the sun.
