They say it’s always bigger in Texas so we just had to find out. On August 14, our nationwide tour took us to Dallas, affectionately dubbed the Big D, where our amazingly talented Coterie member Ebony Peoples Events & Design served as our host. The former elementary school teacher turned planner extraordinaire assured us that Dallas has something for every bride. “If you’re looking to plan a fabulous, over the top wedding celebration with lots of bling and modern decor, Dallas has something for you! If you’re hoping to plan a vintage inspired celebration with nature as the backdrop, Dallas has that too! The planning possibilities are endless!” said Ebony. And we definitely got a glimpse of those possibilities.
The event was housed in the spectacular Sixty Five Hundred. Rightfully known as “Remarkably Dallas,” Sixty Five Hundred once served as a General Electric warehouse. Though the space has been completely refurbished, its design pays homage to its heritage. The venue has 20 foot pine ceilings, an open floor plan, and stained concrete floors perfect for the bride seeking a modern industrial wedding location. Prashe transformed the space into a luxurious oasis with gorgeous pink and ivory florals, lush greenery, and vintage furnishings. Guests were greeted by a beautiful table covered in black and white striped linens. A grassy backdrop complimented the vintage gold frames hanging from it, while statement chandeliers set the tone for what would be a dazzling event.
Vendors and brides-to-be were rocking to tunes spun by DJ Gumbo as well as live performances by Authentic SoundZ and uber talented violinist Richmond Punch. Tufted white seating from DFW Lounge Rentals created classy lounging areas for event goers.
Brides-to-be jumped at the opportunity to take fun pictures with a photo booth by A&K Photo Booth. And we can’t stop thinking about the exquisite food we tasted. Low Country Quisine kept our mouths watering with food perfect for any cocktail hour. Talk about a cheat day! Sweet Thangs by Lo had us ditching our diets for an assortment of sweet treats. The Dough Bar provided decadent MunaMunchies with custom cookies for guests to take home. But we also had a less sinful option for our dieting brides with yummy frozen yogurt from Pinkberry.
Some highlights from the event included a posh wine bar by Sociologie Wine, stunning bridal fashion from the White Gown Showroom topped off with makeup by Marilona Makeovers and hair by Ashley Bristo. Guests even got the experience of luxury automobiles with an in-house showcase by Premier of Dallas.

Lovely affair! Do you have any plans to come to San Francisco; I missed the one held in Berkeley. I love your publication and always look at it on-line; I’ve gotten some great ideas there…
Thank you for thinking of brides of color…
