The Wooten’s Rip The Runway-Themed wedding in North Carolina serves looks and love with colorful berry-hued florals and modern decor!
Andrea and Roderick’s bright personalities were on full display at their gorgeous rent-the-runway-inspired wedding! The couple (who technically first met while attending their shared alma mater, Fayetteville State University) didn’t start dating until they matched on a dating app.
Their first date at Uptown Chicken & Waffles turned into a day-long event with lots of laughs, meaningful conversation, and connection. They truly hit it off! And so began their journey towards “I do!”.
After Roderick surprised Andrea with an intimate proposal during a family breakfast at her sister’s house, the couple set out to plan their dream wedding! Working with T’Kiyah of TKO Total Events, they created a regal runway-themed wedding with berry-colored florals and modern decor.
Their guests wore all-black formal attire and were seated along a gorgeous aisle designed to perfection for a wedding runway show at the Blue Heron Event Venue.
As they say, design the wedding but make it fashion!

Lined with bright flowers, Andrea strutted down the aisle to her forever love wearing an elegant mermaid gown from Duchess Bridal Boutique. Roderick was brought to tears seeing his wife-to-be!
After saying “I do!”, Mr. and Mrs. Wooten danced the night away in style with lots of strolling, posing, and laughs with loved ones. More sweet details on their love story and photos by Katrena Wize Artography from their glamorous runway wedding await below!

How we met…
We met at our alma mater THEE Fayetteville State University!! BRONCOOOO PRIDE!! After graduating and discovering each other on a dating site, that gave us the go!
We spent our first date at Uptown Chicken & Waffles. We didn’t want the date to end there, so we made it into a whole day date, full of great food, good conversation, and lots of laughs.
For the rest of the day, we strolled all around downtown Fayetteville North Carolina and hours later returned back to Uptown Chicken & Waffles for live entertainment and more food before ending the night.
Easily, the best day ever!
The proposal…
The proposal was intimate.
My immediate family was gathered on Black Friday to have “breakfast at my sister’s” house, so I was told. While mingling and eating, all of a sudden Brian McKnight’s “Back at One” begins to play, so I start singing along. Lol.
Then, Roderick grabs my hands and begins expressing his love, and gets down on one knee. At this point, I’m freaking out with emotion!
He pulled out the ring and of course, I said YES!
Wedding style, attire, & shopping experience…
My first shopping experience went a bit different than most. I felt I was in love with the first dress that I saw and actually purchased it.
Months later, I realized I wanted more, especially since the overall theme was “Rip The Runway”. Next thing you know, my mom and I were back on the hunt for the perfect dress.
After three long hours at Duchess Bridal, I found the one… AGAIN! I was in absolute adoration of my second gown and I know based on the pictures and the result of our wedding, I made the right choice! It gave the couture look I wanted, a little razzle-dazzle and elegant flow I was aiming for to rip the runway
Roderick opted for a custom classic all-black tux. He knew what he wanted from the beginning.
The ceremony…
Entering with swag…
Here comes the bride…
Mr. & Mrs…
Cultural elements…
We were very intentional with our music selections. Our goal was to reach every generation of guests and from our saxophonist to our DJ, our goal was accomplished.
Sweet details…
Our favorite wedding day memories…
Let’s just say our guests definitely understood the assignment of our all black request. We are still enthused by how chic they looked.
The most beautiful moment for me was seeing my husband’s response to my mother-in-law’s tribute area commemorating her beautiful life. It was a small surprise but made a big impact. She is loved and missed, but not forgotten.
Wedding advice for engaged couples…
Pick the most important areas of your wedding that you’re willing to spend the most money on. Establish a realistic budget. Most of all, don’t cut corners!
The reality is that everything is important to the eye! You want to make sure to look back on your day and know it was everything you’ve dreamed of.
Also, hire a wedding planner! Our planner T’Kiyah (TKO Total Events) did not play. Any detail we forgot, she already had covered.
