Rohit and Yutika’s intimate spring Hindu wedding celebrated their South Asian culture and showed us how you can have YOUR wedding, YOUR way.
Under a canopy of freshly budding trees announcing spring’s arrival, the couple’s outdoor Hindu ceremony was captured beautifully by their wedding photographer, Bhuvana Dhinesh.
Decor details included their wedding altar which was draped with soft, orange, and white linens, and was perfectly paired with fresh floral arrangements. These simple elements gave a magical touch to their outdoor ceremony.
With the couple’s wishes to remain authentic to their personalities, their wedding day had an intimate and cozy feel that mirrored Rohit and Yutika’s styles all the way.

- Couple: Rohit & Yutika
- Occupations: Software Developer| Restaurant Owner
- Wedding date: March 11, 2023
- Wedding location: Round Rock, Texas
Quick Facts:
- Bridesmaids & groomsmen gifts: We opted out of bridesmaids and groomsmen! We thought about it, but I think we just wanted to keep it simple.
- Gifts for one another: Rohit gifted me a pair of diamond earrings and I gifted him a cologne. He won this round, but I’ll get him back for our anniversary.
- Ceremony entrance song: We didn’t have one. Despite it being our wedding, we weren’t keen on everyone watching us walk in! We wanted to just make our way into the reception without too much attention!
- First dance song: No first dance! We wanted our reception to be more like a giant party without the more traditional aspects of a wedding reception.
Getting to know you…
We met in high school through some mutual friends in debate. Although we both went to separate high schools, we became really good friends and eventually started dating after about a year of knowing each other.
Our proposal story…
Rohit planned a weekend glamping getaway in the Texas hill country.
He drove out the morning before and set up rose petals and candles with a sign saying “Marry me?”. He actually told me he had to help his parents with something so I didn’t think twice about it.
When we got there, he told me to close my eyes and led me to the tent, and proposed inside! Looking back, I kind of had an inkling, but it was still such a surprise!
Choosing the right look….
For the morning and evening, I wore lehengas. Rohit wore a sherwani in the morning and a tuxedo in the evening.
Wedding shopping was a journey on its own. There is so much color with South Asian weddings so we wanted to make sure my outfits didn’t clash with our wedding colors. It’s just a lot of coordination and trying not to overthink every decision you’ve already made.
But looking back on it, it’s such a fun process amidst the stress because you realize how unique and special your own experience as a bride is.
Celebrating our culture…
In the morning, we did go with a traditional Hindu ceremony. It was important for us to incorporate our culture and honor different aspects of our combined heritage and traditions.
Moments in time…
To be honest, the first look was just such a special moment and our photography sessions to follow were really the only moments we got to just spend together and laugh about all the craziness of the wedding day. I think Bhuvana did such an incredible job making us feel so comfortable so it was just a really fun time.
Here’s the thing…
I think everyone says this, but I really just think so many couples spend the whole wedding planning process so stressed that they forget that this process only happens once and it comes with its own set of memories and moments worth remembering.
When things get really stressful, try to remember that at the end of the process, you get to be married to your best friend and you’ll laugh off all the crazy times after the wedding.
