Romantic Caribbean fusion wedding in Atlanta brings culture and family together through music, dancing, and custom attire.
Siobhan & Warren’s wedding was a blissful and magical day filled with love and joy.
The Chinese Proverb, “To forget One’s Ancestors Is To Be a Brook Without A Source, A Tree Without A Root” was a concurrent theme in planning their wedding day. For them, the proverb symbolized the importance of honoring their shared Caribbean and East Indian heritage.
As such, every detail of their special day strived to create an experience for their friends and family that “conjured up collective childhood memories.” From the vibrant colors in their décor, to their floral and custom attire, they paid tribute to their roots and embraced their Trinidad and Tobago culture.
Their cultural tributes continued through their music choices including playing Soca and Calypso beats throughout the night. A final surprise for their guests included the couple re-emerging onto the dance floor to pulsing Chutney Soca music wearing stunning East Indian outfits. Their children followed suite wearing cute miniature looks!
Surrounded by loved ones, the couple ended the evening beneath a moonlit starry sky with guests shouting well wishes and waving sparklers.

How they met…
While Siobhan and Warren had technically seen each other a few times at family functions (because their families knew each other for a long time) they actually never really interacted. “Maybe a head nod or a wave, here and there,” Siobhan says. But that was the extent of their relationship, until one fateful evening in 2017…
“I was at [Warren’s] childhood home for a family function and he showed up with a few of his friends,” Siobhan recalls. “Our eyes connected and he approached me. We exchanged our first words, even though we had seen each other so many times before. I just remember him being absolutely hilarious and us sharing so many laughs (anyone who knows me knows that the way to my heart is through a good laugh, I don’t know how he knew).”
After chatting for a while, a lull in conversation spurred Warren towards the DJ.
“The next thing I knew, I heard [Warren] asking me to meet him in the center of the room. I apprehensively obliged. When I made my way to him he announced to everyone… that he was intrigued by me (apparently he had been inquiring about me for months before this moment.) I was slightly mortified but also impressed by his bravery. We shared a quick two-step, exchanged numbers, and went our separate ways.”
However, secretly, she still wasn’t convinced. But after playing hard to get and not answering his messages for a few days, she decided to respond – and the rest is history!
The proposal…
Surrounded by Siobhan’s parents, grandparents, Siobhan’s brother, and their kids, Warren planned a surprise proposal for his soon-to-be fiancé on May 24th, 2020. And she truly didn’t see it coming!
“I originally thought it was a joke since we planned to host a get together to celebrate my parents wedding anniversary which was on may 26th,” she admits. “We all were eating and laughing and listening to music on our back porch when suddenly Warren came through the door and dropped to one knee. Ed Sheeran’s song “Thinking Out Loud” was playing which was no coincidence. He purposely had it set up to play at that moment.”
With their new born son in her arms, it felt like a movie; Siobhan even turned to her mother to ask her if it was real or a joke! Of course, it was real and that’s what the get together was really for.
“After finally realizing it was in fact real, I turned to focus on my partner and heard him expressing his love and asking me to marry him, so in front of all the people that mean the world to me with my baby in my arms…I said yes!”
Dress shopping experience & attire…
Siobhan couldn’t ask for a better shopping experience!
“Downtown Gowns in Carrollton, Georgia made… [dress] shopping so memorable,” she says.
In a private room surrounded by her parents, grandmother, maid of honor, and one of her bridesmaids, Siobhan set out to find the gown of her dreams! The day was filled with laughter, champagne, and sharing stories from her childhood. And then, she found it.
“After trying quite a few dresses, I asked for a dress I saw another bride trying on that was more my style. When the attendant brought it to my dressing room I knew that was my dress, it was exactly what I envisioned walking down the isle in.”
Slipping into the Morilee Ivory off the shoulder fitted long sleeved lace gown, she knew it was her dress. “It was exactly what I envisioned walking down the isle in.”
As she stepped onto the podium and faced the mirror, her mother confirmed her feelings bursting into tears. “We both hugged and cried and I knew I had to say yes to the dress. It was perfect!”
On her wedding day she accessorized with a bejeweled belt and a cathedral length lace train.
For Warren’s outfit, he styled an Ivory jacket, white tuxedo shirt, and a black bow tie with black tuxedo pants.

Cultural elements…
With their shared Caribbean background, incorporating their Trinidad and Tobago culture was very important to them. They did this through their music, custom attire, and dancing.
“Warren, also being from East Indian decent, and my great grandfather also being East Indian, we wanted to honor that by wearing custom made Indian attire that was shipped directly from India.”
For their reception, the pair and their two kids donned matching custom outfits. Siobhan sparkled in her gold and cream embroidered Lehenga Choli (a 2 piece outfit with a long skirt and top) accompanied by a matching heavily embellished Dupatta (a long head scarf) and dazzling jewelry. Warren complimented her in his own stunning gold and cream embroidered mandarin collared Shewani (a formal long sleeved outer jacket that falls below the knee) with silk gold pants.
They also surprised their guests by dancing onto the dance floor to Chutney Soca. Siobhan explains, “Chutney Soca is a musical genre that is a fusion of Calypso and East Indian musical instruments.”
Best wedding day memory…
Siobhan’s favorite wedding day memory was when they were re-introduced to their friends and family in their traditional Indian garb.
“The shock and excitement on all of our guests faces was priceless.”
Advice for other engaged couples…
“Love hard and forgive easily,” Siobhan says. “We’ll never always get it right, but when we get it wrong, work hard and fast to get right, again.”
