How did you meet? We met in 2011 while attending college together at Columbia University – I invited him to an event my sorority was hosting! We spoke at the event and remained friendly after the party, but sparks didn’t fly until a full year later when I ran into Anthony at a senior event in 2012, two months before Anthony graduated. After a short year of long-distance – Anthony moved back to Dallas for a year – I graduated and Anthony moved back to NYC to work and be with me of course! The rest is history.
Tell us your proposal story. Over the years, Dallas has become our home away from home, as we travel there to spend time with family and friends several times a year. Earlier this year in May, we cemented that sentiment by purchasing our first home together in Dallas. Anthony proposed on the first evening in our new home, just the two of us. All of our family and friends were in town for a family member’s birthday, so we shared the wonderful news with them the next morning over brunch!
Describe your engagement session. It was important to us that our engagement session was very much a reflection of us. We’re pretty understated, so we didn’t want anything “over the top” – we wanted it to be romantic while incorporating our playful nature. We ultimately settled on a casual stroll around our neighborhood in Harlem. We live directly across the street from Central Park, which provided a beautiful backdrop. We also wanted our session to have a classic New York City vibe – the place where we met, fell in love, and still live and work today.
What did you do on your first date? We went to a local college bar for drinks and arcade games.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple? We love to work out, experience new places and cultures, and try new restaurants.
How has wedding planning been so far? It’s going well! We have booked our major vendors and our working through our “to do” list! We have an exciting holiday engagement party coming up in NYC and are looking forward to celebrating.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day. The most important thing to us is our family and friends coming together in one place. We’re planning an intimate wedding weekend with plenty of opportunities for our favorite people to meet and get to know one another!
