Eric was Sarah’s son, Suneigh’s basketball coach. During the season, other than the occasional (and innocent), “parent/coach talk” – the pair’s conversation was limited. Yet, Sarah admired Eric from the sidelines, specifically applauding his patient demeanor and interaction with the kids on the team. “On the last night of the season they had a magic show for the kids and I decided to tell him that he looked nice” says Sarah. Later, as Sarah was making her way home, she received a text from Eric asking if she’d like to join him for dinner sometime. Her response? “I though you’d never ask”. And from that day forward, the two have been inseparable.
Seven months later, in front of family and friends, Eric proposed to Sarah. Through she was completely caught off-guard, of course, she replied yes. The now newlyweds married in a Romantic Crimson Floral wedding in Williamsburg, VA captured by photographer, Chelsea Anderson. Describe your wedding dress! What was wedding shopping like for you?
When shopping for my wedding dress I wanted to make sure that my personal style was reflected. On a normal day I do not fuss over my clothes or over accessorize so I knew that I wouldn’t want to do that on my wedding day either. I didn’t want a dress with a lot of bells and whistles, just something simple that I could dance in, and I loved the idea of a tasteful low back for a sexy surprise element.
I ended up purchasing the perfect dress by Willoughby which happened to be the first dress I tried on because it was exactly what I was looking for and it fit right off the rack because I didn’t have time to order a gown.
What is your best memory from your wedding?
I have a few. We wrote our own vows and I think we knocked those out of the park. Also the whole reception was such a family affair. I did a mother son dance with my son to “What a Wonderful World” and we celebrated my dad’s 60th birthday which was the next day. Really I just loved dancing the night away with my friends and family.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples?
There are several ways to minimize your stress levels. I recommend not going heavy on the DIY unless there is a huge price difference. Pay the professionals, it’s just not worth your sanity. Also decide what the non-negotiable’s are for your wedding and take care of those first.
For example I knew that I was not willing to compromise on my photographer or my florist so I made sure that I booked them before anyone else did. Lastly I highly recommend hiring a wedding planner and stylist. They will bring your vision to life and manage all of the vendor stuff so you can truly just be a bride and relax.
