Recently relocated to Maryland and wanting to meet new people to explore the city with, Jessica met Brandon on a popular dating app.
“God, you are so funny,” Jessica recalls saying as Brandon continued to receive check-after-check on her list for an ideal husband. The more time they spent together the more they both began to realize they had discovered the one. When Brandon knew in his heart it was time to take their relationship to the next level, he created their perfect proposal opportunity while attending a Reggae concert. In front of hundreds of people, he called Jessica onto the stage, getting down on one knee and asking for her hand in marriage. Bride & Groom-to-be: Jessica & Brandon
Wedding Date: May 8, 2020
Engagement Session Location: Washington DC
Tell us how you met! Brandon and I met online on a dating website called Bumble. I was new to Maryland and was interested in meeting cool people to explore the city and learn more about my new home. Brandon and I are both die-hard Kobe Bryant and Lakers’ fans (that was one thing I required in the man I married; he had to be a Kobe and Lakers fan). We both are very adventurous and will try new things. We love watching Netflix and Hulu too. We are very competitive and love challenging each other with small games. We motivate and inspire each other to be better than we are.
Tell us all about the proposal! We were going to a reggae concert in the shopping center not too far from where we live. When we got there a few of our family members were hanging out and listening to music. I was catching up with our family and then the music stops and the artist on stage says “I have a special friend named Brandon who is going to help me on stage.” I’m thinking “oh wow they have a friend named Brandon!” I look around and see Brandon is gone…then I think “oh boy what is he up to now?” Then he calls me on stage in front of hundreds of people and asks me to marry him. It was embarrassingly sweet, and I’ll never forget it.
How did you know your partner was the one? Jessica: “I knew Brandon was the one when I saw him dance. I made a very specific list of what I wanted in the man I married and one of the things was ‘he is a good dancer.’ I had crossed off many things on the list but when I saw him dance, I just looked up to the sky and said, ‘God, you are so funny.'”
Brandon: “I knew she was the one when she made me feel the way I never felt before. It wasn’t a specific day, it happened over time as I grew to know her and spend time with her. I had known pretty women before but none as humble, as genuine and as internally beautiful as Jessica.”
Are you excited to start planning your wedding day? I am very excited! We are getting close to our big day and I am getting nervous! We have all of our arrangements planned and we are almost ready to go! We are most excited for our families to join together as one.
