What venue exudes whimsical romance more than a lush outdoor garden? Angela and Mark Heidel wanted an ethereal and elegant ambiance for their big day, so they chose to have a classic garden wedding. Their venue, complete with crystal chandeliers hanging from tree branches, set an enchanting mood for their nuptials. Shades of peach, pink, and cream were seen throughout their luxurious wedding decor. The bride looked like a dream in her form fitting, lace wedding dress, which was complemented by a multi-stringed pearl necklace. For an authentic and personalized vintage touch, Angela’s mother surprised her with a stunning brooch bouquet that included several brooches from the bride’s deceased grandmother. The bride also added lace from her mother’s wedding dress to her veil. Brooks Whittington Photography captured all of the lovely details.

Wedding Theme
When planning our wedding, we knew we wanted to get married surrounded by a lush garden. We discussed doing a destination wedding, but being a Texas girl, I knew I had to get married in my hometown of Dallas. Our wedding theme was centered around the idea of classic, romantic, elegance with lush florals, linens, and wedding accessories decorated with shades peach, pink, and cream, with accents of gold.
Wedding Style
My wedding dress was a classic, sweetheart, modified mermaid, with a semi Cathedral length train in ivory Venice lace with an oyster satin underlay. My favorite wedding accessory is a tie between my veil and my bouquet. My Mom surprised me at my bridal shower with a brooch bouquet made of brooches from all of the women in my family. It was so special because she even included several brooches from my deceased grandmother, so it felt as if she was there in spirit with us. My veil was a cathedral length veil with lace detail. Initially, my veil was plain, but after watching a bridal TV show while in Dallas on one of many wedding planning trips, my Mom and I decided to add lace from herwedding dress to the veil, so that I had a piece of her wedding gown with me. Both accessories are treasured pieces that I can pass down in our family.
Incorporation of Culture
In Texas, barbecue is HUGE and my father pride’s himself on being a BBQ connoisseur. So naturally, it wouldn’t be a wedding without BBQ incorporated somewhere in the wedding events. The night before the wedding, (after the rehearsal and rehearsal lunch) my parents hosted a BBQ at their house for all of the wedding guests. The menu included pulled pork, pork ribs, brisket, smoked sausage, and smoked turkey, all of which my father smoked himself. Guests got to experience Texas at it’s best!
Most Memorable Moment
My favorite memory from the wedding was the speeches. Our maid of honor, the best man, and my father gave speeches filled with love, laughter, and advice. My father stated during his speech that the secret to a long and happy marriage is “when you are wrong, admit it, when you are right, shut up!”
Wedding Advice
First, make a list of all of the pictures that you definitely want and discuss that list with your photographer. You want to make sure that every moment that you want to see is captured. Second, my husband and I chose not to do a first look because of tradition. By not doing one, you miss intimate moments between the bride and groom by themselves, but after the ceremony and before the reception, our photographer pulled us away from everyone. We had a few intimate, moments together laughing and digesting that we just exchanged vows and were now married. Our photographer captured our emotions at that time without us even noticing and those pictures happened to be my favorite of all of our photos. Finally, just ENJOY the day. You spend months planning your dream wedding and it seems like it takes forever until you reach the day, but when you do, it passes in an instant. Live in the moment on your wedding day!
