Though Annette and Steven grew up in the same city, it wasn’t until fate brought them together in Tampa that their love story truly began.
It was the Spring of 2013 when a job opportunity would relocate Annette to Tampa, while at the same time Steven was being drafted by the NFL to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was during that summer that their paths crossed and the sparks of love burned bright for them both as a relationship began to form. After five blissful years, Steven knew it was time to take their relationship to the next level, and so found their perfect proposal opportunity during a trip to Niagra Falls. Lost in the beauty of their surroundings, Annette turned to find Steven on a knee, ring in hand, asking if she would spend the rest of their lives together as husband and wife…

Tell us how you met. We grew up in the same city and never knew each other. Just so happened that my sweet Steven was drafted to the NFL in the spring of 2013 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and I moved to Tampa for a change and a job opportunity at the exact same time. We met that summer in Tampa and the rest is history. We both say that there was a reason we never knew each other when we were growing up and it was destined for us to have met in Florida when we did. The timing was everything!
Tell us about the proposal. Steven proposed to me in June of 2018. I was not expecting it at all! We were going back home to Buffalo, New York that summer for a family reunion and three days into our trip we decided to have a date night. That night we ended up going to Niagara Falls. The weather was so perfect and the night sky was so clear, it really was so dreamy. I remember us talking, and as we looked at the beautiful colored lights that lit up the falls I turned around and my sweet Steven was on one knee…it was magical!
Describe your wedding style. Well, we wanted our wedding to be very romantic and sexy. We loved the idea of having it pretty much candlelit with lots of flowers and delicate lighting. My favorite colors are black, gold and white. So we incorporated that in pretty much everything. Our wedding was so magical! Perfect for us.
Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding? Well, Annette is Hispanic so she wanted to incorporate some of her love for Spanish music. Which is very important and means a lot to her. We incorporated that during the reception. But also and most importantly, we are very into their faith. Our lives have always been about putting Jesus Christ first. That’s one of the things that brought us together in the first place. It was extremely important to show our faith and put God at the center of our foundation. So our ceremony was very intimate.
Ceremony Song: “What a Beautiful Name It Is” by Hillsong United
First Dance: “Why I Love You” by Major.
Best memories from your wedding. It has to have been when we both saw each other that day for the first time. The feelings were indescribable; truly magical. At that moment everything felt just right…
Best advice for engaged couples. Just take it all in. I know as you plan your wedding it can be very stressful and overwhelming but trust me when that day comes all those little things you stressed about won’t matter at all. Enjoy every moment and have fun and always remember who it’s all about – just the two of you!
