And it took place on May 1, 2015, at the historic South Street Seaport, the place where Carline Bernard and Donald Thompson had their first date. They did not have a theme in mind for their engagement session. They just wanted to enjoy the moment and be natural. On their first date they ate dinner overlooking the water and then afterwards walked around the Seaport until the sun went down. It was truly a romantic experience for them and what better way than to revisit the moment that they were going to start their beautiful journey as an newly engaged couple.
How They Met And The Proposal
It was through childhood best friends that introduced Carline and Donald back in May of 2011. “He took the first step by sending me a Facebook message and we exchanged numbers that night.”, says Carline. “Our friends knew that we had a lot in common and they were 100% right. We realized right away that we have the same goals and aspirations for the future and a strong family foundation. We are different in some ways, but we are the same in everything that matters the most to us. The first night we talked on the phone for hours and we have talked every day since then.”
Now the proposal was stellar! Three years years later after they met Donald organized a brunch-day party for Carline’s birthday with friends and family. Plus he had the whole proposal caught on tape! Carline’s face was priceless and her eyes filled with tears as she laid eyes as she ecstatically hugged her fiance. “Donald whispered in my ear that all he wants is for me to be happy and then got on one knee and proposed. It was a complete surprise for me and everyone in attendance. In an instant, my birthday brunch turned into an engagement party and my boyfriend turned into my Fiancé!”
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
“Our favorite thing to do as a couple is sit on the couch and watch Netflix. Both of our jobs are very demanding of our time and energy so it’s a treat to be able to just relax together and do nothing. When we aren’t being couch potatoes, we love to try new things together – whether it’s traveling to a country/city we haven’t been to before or indulging in a new local restaurant.”
Awaiting the Wedding Day…
“The wedding planning has been smooth so far. We vowed to each other that we would make sure this wouldn’t be a stressful process. Instead, we are making this process about making decisions together and planning for our marriage. We don’t want to lose sight of what’s important.”
“We are looking forward to starting our lives as husband and wife and having all of our loved ones all together in one room celebrating our love!”
Their romantic night at the NY seaport engagement session was absolutely beautiful. The photos displayed their natural and effortless love for one another. We are excited for their upcoming wedding next year April 29, 2016! It will take place in Roslyn Heights, NY and we eagerly anticipate their future wedding photos!
