Sharing social circles, Ruhama and Binyam were consistently crossing paths at various gatherings. Always noticing each other from a distance, Binyam found himself wondering more and more about this mystery person who kept drawing in his attention. Their official meeting took place one evening while out with friends in downtown Denver. In Ruhama’s words, “After asking others about me for months, he finally asked me for my number that night.” Not soon after they were setting out on their first date, Ruhama recalls how “it was such a perfect date, I remember having so much fun and feeling instantly comfortable – it almost scared me how quickly we connected.”
Read all about Ruhama & Binyam’s love story, proposal, and wedding aspirations, in their chic and sensual Seattle engagement – featured in the Fall 2018 issue of MunaLuchi Bride Magazine.

How they met. Binyam and I initially saw each other at a housewarming party I attended with a friend who’s husband worked with Binyam. After that we kept seeing each other at different events (and both were clearly attracted to and curious about the other), but we didn’t meet officially until after running into each other on a night out in downtown Denver. After asking others about me for months, he finally asked me for my number that night.
The proposal. I planned a surprise 30th birthday trip for Binyam. He was unaware of the location of the trip and the fact that his closest friends would also be joining us at our destination, Cancun, MX. During this trip, on the last night with our friends, we had a nice group dinner at Ruth’s Chris at which Binyam gave a thank you speech and a toast to me for planning the trip and being an amazing girlfriend, and before I knew it he was on his knee proposing, and I was bawling and in complete SHOCK. Best day EVER.
The engagement session. Our engagement shoot ended up being very fun! Binyam is NOT a pictures kinda person, and he was definitely a little uncomfortable and awkward at first because we were constantly surrounded by an audience, but our photographer made us so comfortable and we really just had fun getting dressed up and hanging out in this way that is unusual for us.
Our first date. Our first date was at Benihana followed by some drinks at a nearby sports bar. Honestly it was such a perfect date, I remember having so much fun and feeling instantly comfortable – it almost scared me how quickly we connected.
Favorite thing to do as a couple. This is going to sound silly, but we are OBSESSED with Survivor, so we love watching that together – and after that, probably trying new restaurants.
Wedding planning progress. Honestly, a headache. It has been really difficult finding a venue we love, figuring out a budget, and also making our families happy, but we are constantly reminding ourselves to enjoy the process and this season of our life because it’s a blessing that will only happen once, so we don’t want to forget the big picture here.
What we are looking forward to the most. Finally being husband and wife! And getting to celebrate our love with the people we love the most, who have supported us throughout our relationship.
