Danaesia and Emmanuel said “I do!” at their rustic and elegant fall wedding in High Point, North Carolina!
Danaesia and Emmanuel first met in high school, however, their love story didn’t begin until a little later on, when they were set up on a blind date by one of Danaesia’s coworkers. (Small world, right?!).
After dating for four wonderful years, Danaesia knew marriage was on the table but didn’t know when Emmanuel would pop the question. One evening, while they were taking family photos on the beach, Emmanuel completely surprised Danaesia by tapping her on the shoulder, getting down on one knee, and proposing.
I couldn’t believe it! He completely caught me off guard. The proposal was such a special and intimate moment that we will never forget it.

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal
The way I knew Emmanuel was the one wasn’t from a particular situation, but several. I believe that God places people in our lives for a reason. Although Emmanuel and I attended the same high school, our paths never crossed romantically during our tenure. However, we became employed by the same company; we are grateful that God used my former manager Mihaela to connect us.
We dated for approximately four years before getting engaged. I felt that Emmanuel would propose at some point, but I had no idea when that actual moment would come. Emmanuel staged an opportunity to take photos on the beach with his family. After taking family photos, I turned to break away from the pose; Emmanuel tapped me on my shoulder and knelt on one knee. I couldn’t believe it! He completely caught me off guard. The proposal was such a special and intimate moment that we will never forget it.
Culture
We chose to incorporate a Sand Ceremony, and we Jumped the Broom! (It was hard to pick between the two, so we did both! Why not?) We chose to do a sand ceremony using two different colors because it represented that Emmanuel and I were uniting as one. Once the colored sand grains are combined, it is impossible to re-sort each grain. Jumping the Broom is a Black wedding tradition that has been passed down for generations; however, there are several different cultural meanings. To us, Jumping the Broom represented sealing the deal on our union.
Wedding Style
Rustic chic and classic elegance.
Describe your wedding dress
My wedding dress was a beautiful mermaid style with unique lace details and a beautiful train. The dress was absolutely stunning and everything I imagined in a bridal gown. My favorite wedding accessories were a pair of beautiful earrings my friend gifted to me and my “something blue” topaz bracelet that my mother gave me.
What is your best memory from your wedding?
My best memory from the wedding was walking down the aisle and locking eyes with my husband! It was such a special moment for us.
What is the best advice you can give to engaged couples?
I recommend deciding what time of year you would like to get married, finding the perfect venue to accommodate the anticipated total guests, and considering possible weather conditions. Furthermore, you must hire an amazing photographer/videographer (I personally recommend both!) that can capture the perfect moments to retell your love story. I understand that photographers and videographers can be expensive, but always remember that you get what you pay for!
Advice for brides: Do what you and your spouse would like; it is not about anyone else, and this is ONE day that you will never get back. Many loved ones will have input on just about everything, but don’t let anyone stress you out. I would also recommend completing a seating chart- this made life much easier and less chaotic on our wedding day! Plan your wedding with no regrets.
