Breanne and Arun met during their first year of medical school.”We started hanging out through mutual friends and began spending more and more time together. I was attracted by his sense of humor – he could even make study sessions almost fun, and he was impressed I had enough sarcasm to keep up” shares Breanne. One night, while the two were out, twirling it up on the dance floor, Breanne decided to make the first move. And apparently she made quite the impression. Arun took her out on their first date the following week and the relationship only skyrocketed from there.
Following two blissful years of dating, the couple headed to Charleston for a spring break vaykay. “The food was delicious, the hotel extravagant, and the champagne overflowing. A few days into the trip he took me onto the hotel terrace for breakfast. The terrace overlooked the harbor and there were flowers everywhere” says Breanne. With the mood set just right, Arun was ready to utter those four magical words to his love. “He got down on one knee and said something beautiful as I grabbed his face and kissed him. As I said yes (and he put my dream ring on my finger), hotel workers brought out an enormous bouquet of roses and an incredible breakfast. We spent the rest of the day eating, drinking, and being in love” shares Breanne.
This beautiful couple wed in an outdoor ceremony in Pittsburgh, that combined a rustic feel with delicate hints of glam within the decor, while details – including an adorable table to make your own S’mores and personalized sandalwood fans added special touches. Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding?
Arun is Indian and I am African American. We wanted to incorporate both of our backgrounds into our wedding. A few days before the wedding I had a bridal shower during which a local Mehndi artist decorated my hands, arms, and feet. My favorite part was how she hid Arun’s name in the Mehndi so he could find it on the wedding night. The day prior to the wedding we had a traditional Indian ceremony, and on our wedding day we had a Christian ceremony. It was a blessing to be able to celebrate both of our backgrounds and join our two families and their traditions.
What is your best memory from your wedding?
My favorite memory from the wedding was squeezing my soon-to-be husband’s hands as we said our vows. Even though there were over a hundred people around us, it felt like it was just the two of us.
