Sarah and Chris put their love on top at their boho chic, Beyoncé inspired wedding in Ladson, South Carolina!
Sarah and Chris first met on Tinder in 2017. They talked for a while and became friends before making their relationship official in April 2018.
Chris initially planned to propose while they were visiting Atlanta for the Celebration Bowl Game, but excitement took hold and he couldn’t wait. The night before they left, Chris proposed to Sarah in their home while she was relaxing on their couch in her pajamas. It was the perfect intimate and spontaneous proposal.
As much as I thought I wanted a big proposal that was the perfect proposal and it was just us. We’re both really happy we were able to celebrate that moment privately and share it with our family and friends in our own time.
Sarah (The Bride)
Sarah has been a true fan of Beyoncé her whole life, so it was no surprise when she incorporated decor inspired by the album Renaissance! By adding disco balls to the boho chic decor and including bright hues of orange and pink, Sarah and Chris’s wedding was transformed into a unique blend of boho chic and Renaissance culture.
I didn’t plan on creating a boho disco element, but after seeing so many boho weddings I needed something to make it look and feel different. With a few color tweaks and disco balls, we added some Renaissance culture.
Sarah (The Bride)
Of course, a wedding with Beyoncé as inspiration wouldn’t be complete without a fierce performance. During the reception, the bride and her crew delivered and impressed guests with their special, well-practiced routine, creating a fun and lively atmosphere.
Their wedding photographer, Ariel Pearson of Ariel Enid Photography, shared: “All in all, it was a day that perfectly captured the spirit of the Bey-hive while also showcasing the love and commitment between two people…”.

They were also gifted initial bracelets, robes, initial necklaces, their wedding day jewelry, and their wedding day makeup services. The groomsmen got personalized flasks with their names and the wedding date.
- Gifts for one another: I gifted Chris a wallet photo card with an engraved note from me, a tie clip with the wedding date, and a lapel pin with his mother’s picture. How did you meet?
We met on Tinder in 2017. We talked as friends for a while and made things official in April 2018.
Tell us about the proposal.
Chris planned to propose in Atlanta while we were visiting for the Celebration Bowl game, but the night before he left town he got excited and proposed in the comfort of our home while I was lying on the couch in my pajamas. As much as I thought I wanted a big proposal, that was the perfect proposal and it was just us. We’re both really happy we were able to celebrate that moment privately and share it with our family and friends in our own time.
Wedding Style:
Sarah: My wedding dress came from Gown Boutique of Charleston. It was my 3rd attempt after taking a break from dress shopping. It had gotten to be very stressful for me so I went in with no expectations to find the dress. My father went with me and I found the dress unexpectedly. I tried it on a few times in different colors and didn’t fall in love until I saw it in ivory. After some convincing, my father made me realize I just had dress commitment issues and I ran for it.
Chris: My tuxedo was from Stitch and Tie. It was champagne with paisley and I wore a rust bow tie and brown dress shoes.
Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding?
The Renaissance album came out and I have loved Beyoncé literally all my life. Around the same time, I started seeing all of these disco ball elements incorporated into boho weddings and I fell in love! I didn’t plan on creating a boho disco element, but after seeing so many boho weddings I needed something to make it look and feel different. With a few color tweaks and disco balls, we added some Beyoncé Renaissance culture. For our menu, it was very important for us to incorporate Lowcountry and southern food options with seafood and Lowcountry delicacies.
What is your best memory from your wedding?
Our best wedding memory is definitely our vows. I cannot watch the wedding video without crying, but writing our own vows was the best decision Chris made with the wedding plans. As much as we value our privacy, having the moment to profess our love to each other with our close family and friends made our day all the more special. We both incorporated little Marvel quotes and it was a once-in-a-lifetime moment.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples?
The best wedding advice I can give to any engaged couple is to make your day about you and your future spouse. If you want to elope, elope. If you want a small intimate wedding have a small intimate wedding. At the end of the day when it’s all said and done it’s going to be you and the person you say your vows to so make it about y’all. Everything doesn’t have to be shared just keep as much as you can private.
