Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. We met through my cousin when I went to visit Southern at the end of 2010. He hung out with us the majority of the time I was in Baton Rouge. From there we became really good friends, dated, and now we are about to be husband and wife!
The proposal was definitely a set up! He told me we were going to a dinner for one of our friends who was about to be a stay at home mom. We were running a little late but when we arrived to Chapman and Kirby and he took a little gift bag out of the trunk. I thought it was a little odd to give a gift at a dinner… but hey, I went with it! As soon as we got outside we were in a beautiful courtyard and I saw a lot of familiar faces. When I saw my parents, our friends and family, and his dad from LA I was overwhelmed! I looked at him and he asked me what was I doing for the rest of my life and if I would I marry him! Best day ever!
Describe your engagement session. Our engagement session was a 2 day process. We initially wanted to have a shoot in LA or in our hometown of Lake Charles, Louisiana but time did not allow it. We did not have a theme but we wanted to dress up and also have a casual look for sure. We also wanted to incorporate our wedding colors in our outfits. Our shoot was all over Houston! We took pictures in 4 different areas to capture different looks. Our photographer, Garesia Warfield, made us feel comfortable with being ourselves and capturing our personality.
What did you do on your first date? Sasha suggested I try Cheddar’s upon moving to Houston, she raved about this Mardi Gras pasta they had.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple? Eat & travel
How has wedding planning been so far? It has been a beautiful experience overall. We are excited about our family and friends sharing this special moment with us. It can be interesting at times to hear the opinions of what we should do, who to invite, and what it should look like but it has been great. We have had the chance to meet some great people throughout this process. We have had a lot of support and help with our friends and family. Someone is always willing to help us when we are in need. Our coordinator Abria from signature manor, and Darrell from events with Darrell, have been working extremely hard to help us make sure everything is what we want and flows well.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day. Giving Jesus the glory in our union and the fellowship with friends and family.
