After a 3 year friendship, their relationship deepened and something incredibly special blossomed between them. They started dating and the rest was history! David surprised Ebone with an intimate birthday dinner and proposed with their friends and family as witnesses. It was the perfect surprise!
Their elegant Texas nuptials were secret garden themed with royal touches throughout. How they met…
David and I were friends that reconnected! When we start dating, we were friends for three years prior. Initially, we met while both on vacation in Jamaica… one of our favorite places to go! We were both traveling with a group. I was traveling with my friend and family and David was with his friends. One night we both went to the resort disco/club. My friend and I were about to leave and David approached me and asked us to stay and take a shot lol. I glanced at my friend, she agreed and I said sure!
David and I ended up talking the entire night at the disco. He was so cool and laid back…wasn’t trying to be overly aggressive when we did dance. We soon discovered that we were both from Texas. Shortly after, my friend and I decided to leave and David and I exchanged information. When I left Jamaica, I thought, “Hey, David was a really nice guy.” Little did either of us know that we would stay friends and start dating years after.
Their first date…
We had the most amazing first date that lasted for hours…from brunch to 1am. We went to the movies, the zoo, played laser tag, and went to dinner. After that date, we both knew something very special was there. I am so glad that we allowed ourselves to take the time to get to know one another and didn’t allow the pressures of opinions to make us rush into anything. We dated purposefully. David and I truly became friends which has allowed a beautiful start to our marriage.
Their engagement story…
Our engagement was so magical! A day after my birthday, David and I were planning to go to dinner at a restaurant. Every year after my family and friend celebration, we dress up and have an intimate birthday date with just us two. I kept asking which restaurant and he said the restaurant was a surprise so I left it at that. Now of course, I didn’t think much into the surprise…we were in the middle of the pandemic! Besides, the day before I had a very small birthday gathering at the iPic so we could gather but still social distance.
So we arrive to the restaurant and I was excited because he made reservations at one of my favorites…they have delicious bread lol. I jump out, excited and ready to eat. He helps me out of the car but doesn’t lead me to the entrance of the restaurant. I stop him and say, “Hey, you’re going the wrong way. Won’t we be late for our reservation?” He says no and keeps holding my hand and walking.
We get to a private area full of lights under a beautiful tree. There was a table setting and roses and I gasped. Thinking, “Oh wow, this is so nice!” I love outdoor dinners and such. Then, I see the photographer. Huh? We sit down and music begins to play. I was overwhelmed with joy. Then I look back to see our family smiling and cheering behind. I knew right away, “Oh my word.” David is about to propose, and he did. It was beautiful.
The ceremony…
Wedding planning inspiration…
Inspired by flowers, I had this idea of the secret garden in mind and David wanted a touch of royalty…so we combined the two.
Favorite wedding day details…
EVERYTHING! Spending time with our bridal party and family! I loved that David and I decided to have a second pair of shoes (sneakers) for comfort all night long.
The sweet details…
Attire & shopping experience…
David wore a custom cream tuxedo with black shawl lapel color from JPR styling.
I wore a custom beaded wedding dress with a 10-foot train designed by AJ from Weddings by Debbie and my mom’s custom-designed veil. We looked at many pictures…didn’t see anything we definitely wanted and decided to create our own looks.
Favorite wedding day memories…
Getting to spend time with our family and friends we hadn’t seen them in so long, getting dressed with our bridal parties, picture time, the fireworks, dancing the night away and laughing at the altar with one another about things that were taking place during the ceremony.
Advice for future couples planning their wedding…
Pray to stay on one accord…even when you disagree on an idea. Take your time, Focus on one detail at time, Laugh a lot and Remember that it’s all about the bride and groom. If y’all are good everything else will be fine.
