Many people are hesitant to try online dating. Lorenzo and Angela were also skeptical when their friends encouraged them to sign up for the dating app “Coffee Meets Bagel,” but sometimes friends know best.
When they stumbled across each other’s profile, the physical attraction was instant, but Lorenzo was particularly captured by how down-to-earth yet confident Angela appeared in her profile. They started chatting through the app and eventually exchanged numbers. Their chemistry was undeniable. Within a week, Lorenzo was determined to meet Angela in person. Luckily, the connection they felt over the phone was confirmed on their first date. From there, “like” turned into “love” and a strong foundation was formed.
A little over a year later, Lorenzo proposed during a celebration for Angela’s birthday. He made dinner reservations at the restaurant where he asked her to be his girlfriend. He escorted her to the terrace to see this “new building” that had been built. When Angela struggled to find it, Lorenzo revealed the real reason they were there, got down on one knee, and asked her to be his wife! After dinner, he led Angela upstairs where more than 50 friends and family members screamed, “surprise!” catching her completely off guard. Tears were flowing, hugs were given, and smiles never left their faces.
The couple was scheduled to have a big wedding in September of 2020, but they canceled because of the pandemic. Instead, they had a micro wedding at the National Mall in Washington DC on September 18, 2020. Then, they had a full wedding and reception with 350 of their family members and friends on their one-year anniversary, which was Saturday, September 18, 2021. The day was fabulosity personified from Angela’s “Sex and the City” inspired wedding dress, to their regal white and blush florals, and royal blue and gold decor!

He said that he was very intrigued by her profile introduction, which came across as confident, focused and down-to-earth. But, the picture of Angela in her tight jeans helped to “seal the deal.”

The Proposal…
The couple was scheduled to travel to Jamaica in November 2019 for Lorenzo’s brother’s wedding. Lorenzo knew he did not want to go to another event introducing Angela as his “girlfriend.” So, since the couple was traveling on Angela’s actual birthday, Lorenzo planned a surprise proposal under the guise of an early birthday celebration. He made dinner reservations at the restaurant where he asked her to be his girlfriend, the Bygone at the Four Seasons Hotel in Baltimore, and prepped Angela for drinks after with a couple of friends.
Upon arrival, Angela went to the ladies’ room where she spent several minutes — which seemed like an hour to Lorenzo. When she came out, he escorted her to the terrace to see this “new building” that had been built, but he Angela struggled to find it, Lorenzo revealed the real reason they were there. To her surprise, Lorenzo got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife. Of course, she said, “Yes!”
After dinner, Lorenzo informed Angela that their friends had arrived for drinks and were holding a space for them at the bar. He led Angela upstairs and when she turned the corner, more than 50 friends and family members screamed, “surprise!” catching her completely off guard. Tears were flowing, hugs were given and smile never left their faces.
