Torie and Alex’s Baton Rouge two-themed engagement session combines sexy sophistication with old-school, GREASE vibes!
Torie and Alex first met while they both worked at Target in 2009. It would take a long time for Alex to win Torie over, but eventually, after years of casually staying in touch and seeing each other frequently around Baton Rouge, Torie finally agreed to go on a serious date with Alex. They learned more about each other, became closer, and fell in love, all during the pandemic.
They became addicted to each other, seeing each other every day, traveling, eating out all the time, and just fell in love with each other.
Two years after they began dating, Alex proposed to Torie at one of their favorite restaurants in Baton Rouge. Alex had told Torie he was receiving an award for his work as a detective, but of course, there was no such award. He invited everyone they loved to the restaurant to witness and celebrate the proposal and their engagement.
Torie and Alex are living in bliss and excited to see their hard work and planning come together for their big day on December 16, 2023!

How did you meet?
How it started…
Torie and Alex met in 2009 while working at Target in Baton Rouge, LA. Torie worked as a Guest Services Associate and Alex worked in the Electronics Dept. They pretty much had the same schedule and would always see each other. Little did they know, they’d be engaged to each other thirteen years later.
Alex would always see Torie prancing around the front lines of the store and would always speak to her. She’d give him a fast “HEY ALEX.”. As time went on, Torie would hit the additional cashier’s needed button when lines would get backed up. Alex would always be the first one to come to help her when she was the manager on duty.
One day. Alex asked Torie if she would like to take a lunch break with him. Torie agreed to go as long as he didn’t try anything crazy. They ended up going to Burger King on Sherwood Forest Blvd, where he got Torie chicken nuggets off the dollar menu and a Hi-C fruit punch. They exchanged numbers but never really talked.
In 2010, Torie changed jobs and left Target.
Years would pass and they’d have small talk on Instagram, but never anything serious. Between the years of 2015 and 2019, Alex started DMing Torie more and seeing her around Baton Rouge more often. One night, after Torie and Antoinette (her Matron Of Honor) were leaving a club downtown, they ran into Alex and he was in a Police Uniform.
He was just questioning them, asking if they had been drinking and where they’d come from. Of course, if you know Torie, she responded with a smart mouth to him. He told Torie to call when she made it home, but Torie never called…LOL. Torie was still playing hard to get.
When everything changed…
One day Alex walked through Hancock Whitney Bank on Plank Road where Torie was working. He caught Torie’s eyes because this particular time he didn’t have on a police uniform. He had on a crispy button-down shirt, slacks, and nice shoes, and he smelled good. Alex spoke to Torie so smoothly and she responded so sweetly, saying “Heeyyyyyy Alex Bell”.
Torie thought to herself “He kind of looks good, he must’ve moved up to Detective.” Alex walked over to the officer who was on duty at the bank, who is one of the groomsmen, Abraham. They were in the corner of the bank just chatting it up! After Alex left the bank, Torie went over to Abraham and asked him, “What was said?”. Abraham told Torie that Alex said he was going to make her his wife! Torie rolled her eyes and said “Please…. Give me a break,” and walked off.
Then, it was 2020, and COVID had hit Baton Rouge hard.
Not only did covid hit hard but Alex started going in with his moves again on Torie. This time, he was more persistent and was determined to take Torie out on a date. Before they knew it, they started courting each other during the pandemic.
The two began dating on August 28th, 2020, and they became closer and closer. They became addicted to each other, seeing each other every day, traveling, eating out all the time, and falling in love with each other.
What did you do on your first date?
Alex dressed up as if they were going to a 5-star restaurant. Torie asked him to change because she just wanted to go eat Mexican food.
Tell us all about the proposal.
Two years of love and happiness had gone by and on August 27, 2022, Alex popped the question and asked Torie to marry him. The engagement was at one of their favorite restaurants in Baton Rouge: Flemings Steakhouse.
The proposal was the cutest. Alex told Torie he was getting an award for Detective of the Year. There was NO detective of the Year award. Everyone was there to witness him proposing. Torie was saved by the Bell.
Now they’re still in bliss and ready for this new journey together!
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
We love traveling, eating, and going to listen to live music.
Tell us about the engagement session.
We went with an elegant formal theme for the first shoot and for the second theme, we went with old-school. The vibes definitely gave GREASE. We had on black leather jackets with a classic red Mustang as a prop!
How has wedding planning been so far?
We have six months to go and we can say Torie has not turned into a FULL THROTTLE BRIDEZILLA. Other than that, the wedding planning has been seamless. Torie has been in four weddings in the past two years so she pretty much knows what she wants and doesn’t want to happen at the wedding.
We are looking forward to just celebrating with our closest family and friends. We’re the babies in our families; this will be each other’s first marriage. We’re just thrilled to see all our planning and ideas put together!
