Completely set on remaining single, Shannon was caught off guard when while relaxing at a friend’s house she was told a special someone was arriving for her to meet. Guarded at first, that quickly changed the moment Drew walked into the room, leaving her with “butterflies.” Something, up to that point, she had “never felt before…” Enjoying each other’s company that evening, Drew was later able to get Shannon’s number, calling her the day after Thanksgiving, a conversation that lead to their official first date. That evening of dinner and drinks revealed a connection that put them on the path to happily ever after…

How did you meet? I was at my friend Courtney’s house for a kickback when she told me that a guy named Drew was on his way. I immediately felt set up and got an attitude because I didn’t want to talk to anyone and was set on being single. She tried to get me to talk to Drew for about a year up to that point, unbeknownst to Drew, and I was not having it. Turns out God wasn’t having me being single and Drew coming to the kickback was God’s work and not a set up by Courtney.
While Drew was on his way to the kickback, I was plotting my escape to avoid meeting him. As I got ready to leave, in walks Drew with his fine self. He literally gave me butterflies and I’ve never felt those before up to that point. I had to chug Courtney’s full glass of wine to calm my nerves.
As the night went on, Drew and I had a small talk during a game called Ricky Bobby. While the small talk didn’t lead to info being exchanged that evening, Drew managed to get my number through mutual friends. The day after Thanksgiving 2014, Drew reached out to me and we instantly developed great chemistry. From our first date at Dip and Dab to now, we have been inseparable.
Tell us your proposal story. Drew proposed to me on my 28th birthday. That morning, he asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday and we went from there. I texted a few of my friends and siblings and we met up at Tacos and Tequilas for lunch. Drew then asked me to go to Piedmont Park for a walk which we would normally do if the weather was nice. But, of course, I was difficult because I had on heels and didn’t want to go. My niece Raegan kept begging to go to the park so I caved in. I was under the assumption that Drew and I were going to the park with my siblings and Raegan. When we got to the park, I watched Raegan and her dad run around the playground and took birthday calls. While that was going on, Drew and my sister were setting up the proposal at a beautiful gazebo by the pond. Once everything was in place, Drew came to me and asked me to look at something with him. I walked into the gazebo and my friends and family were standing around looking awkward. Drew then dropped to one knee and said “Will you?” I assumed he meant to finish his sentence but never got to it. I yelled yes and cried soon after. Raegan then gave the most perfect hallmark card speech! She was only 4 years old.
