Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. It was a beautiful summer day on June 16,2005. Craig & I shared a mutual friend but we did not know each other. He told Craig about me & vise versa. He had it in his mind that we would be a perfect pair. So, he set up a double date to T.G.I. Friday’s. We have literally been inseparable since then. The rest is History.
The proposal: Our son turned 6 months old 2 days prior and we decided to give him a “Half Birthday” party. We invited friends & family over. We ate, played, celebrated and had a really great time. This had to be the first event where everyone left on time. Picture that! Lol. Now, Craig had already told me that he was taking me out afterwards. I was excited but exhausted after hosting the party. So, we left our house and got on the road. Shorty after, we pulled up to a unfamiliar hotel. I’m thinking “I’m about to go in here and pass out”. We walked in and Craig immediately blindfolded me. Wait, what? At this point, I’m thinking “He ordered room service and wants to surprise me with dinner”. We began to speed walk through the hotel. I could not see a thing and it was really awkward. Lol. Finally, we stopped and he opened the door and took the blindfold off. In front of us were desserts, decor, & balloons that read “Marry Me”. I seriously thought I was dreaming. Then from another door in the room, our family & friends came pouring out with cameras and huge smiles. Now, it made sense why they all left the party on time. They had to beat us to the hotel & hide out. He kneeled before me, and asked me to marry him. That was an amazing day to say the least. I was very surprised.
What was wedding shopping like for you? Wedding shopping was adventurous and fun. I loved trying on gowns. I visited boutiques in Maryland, Washington D.C., Delaware, and New York. I found my dream gown in New York and traveling back and forth allowed me to create great memories. My wedding gown had a breathtaking mermaid silhouette. The details on it were amazing. From the intricate beading to the ruffled chapel train, it was my dream wedding gown.
Bridesmaids/Groomsmen gifts: The bridesmaids received custom gown hangers, personalized robes, slippers, and wedding jewelry. The groomsmen received personalized shot glasses, Salvatore Ferragamo cologne, wedding dress shirt, and custom lapel brooches
Favorite item on the menu: Chicken Oscar – Pan seared chicken breast topped with lump crabmeat and asparagus tips, finished with a lemon beurre blanc
First dance song: Stay With You – John Legend
What is your best memory from your wedding? Our best memory is when we exchanged vows. We wrote personalized vows and hearing the expression of love for one another, was both emotional and amazing. It felt like it was just the two of us there, pouring our intertwined hearts out to one another.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? Above all things, your Wedding Day is about you. Focus on your day, your Union, and what makes the two of you happy.
