Where’s the perfect place to find out whether you and your crush have chemistry? Chemistry class, of course! It may sound corny but it’s true – just ask Shontell Powell and Anthony Blount Jr. and they’ll tell you that you can take much more away from the classroom than you originally thought ;) This beautiful lawyer and dapper medical/PhD student are set to get married in Atlanta in July.
Their fresh, candid and downright beautiful engagement session was shot by the very talented and passionate Christine Gallagher. Head over to her beautiful blog as well to learn more about the things that inspire her amazing work.
On the couple’s First Encounter…
“We met approximately 11 years ago in college during our organic chemistry class. One day after class, Anthony asked if we could exchange numbers to ‘study’. After a couple of studying sessions, he asked me out on a date and we’ve been in each other’s lives ever since.” – Shontell
If that doesn’t make you go “Awww”, I’m not sure what will. What is even sweeter is what Shontell says she loves most about Anthony…”Anthony dances to his own drum beat. His uniqueness is exciting, refreshing, and inspiring, and makes me love him more and more each day.”
As for what Anthony loves most about his soon-to-be bride, Shontell stated, “Anthony loves my calm spirit.”
Shontell is a woman who definitely knows her man, so much so that she knew when Anthony would propose. When a woman knows a man like that, he has to know she’s a keeper.
On the Proposal….
“Anthony is not one for surprises so I knew he was going to pop the question on Christmas Day while we were visiting our families in Georgia. He proposed to me under the mistletoe at his mother’s house and then took me to his aunt’s house for a huge Christmas dinner with friends and family. And even though I knew he was going to propose, the ring and the words, ‘Will you marry me?’, left me speechless.”
Though weddings are for celebration, the details can be immensely difficult to put together. Shontelle who is naturally hands-on has had to learn that sometimes, external help is necessary….
“I like to be hands-on in everything so delegating tasks and asking for help has been a challenge for me. But as the wedding draws near, I’ve had to rely on my wedding consultant, family, and friends a little more.”
On the theme for the wedding….
“I would describe our theme as timeless and elegant romance with white, soft pink, and platinum décor.”
Pictures make a wedding real over and over again; so, it is extremely important to select the right photographer. On how she made that important choice….
“My wedding consultant gave me recommendations and I also searched various wedding blogs and websites. I interviewed five other photographers before finding our photographer and I’ve been very pleased with her.”
With the hectic planning and countless decisions to be made, one thing is imperative: never forget what all the hard work is really for! Shontell hasn’t.
On what she looks forward to most at the wedding…
“Anthony and I being surrounded by our closest family and friends, and the music – I love to dance. Call me cheesy but I can’t wait to do the Cupid Shuffle!”
Shontell and Anthony, we know your wedding will be beautiful. May your love in marriage be just like your theme, elegantly romantic and absolutely timeless.
