“With a geometric flair and modern glam accents, this styled shoot boasts a modern transformation of the industrial and newly renovated Main Street Station Shed. My initial inspiration came from this AMAZING black dress, the Zander, from Maggie Sottero’s, Sottero and Midgely Collection. I live for a bride that wants to be bold and think outside of the traditional white dress. This dress is full, glamorous, and dramatic as every bride should be on their wedding day.
“I chose to work with a diverse group of men and women touching on all shades of color from the Black community because that’s the client I’m diligently working to attract for my business. This black dress isn’t as traditional for a black bride, but I wanted to show her how she could still be just as glam in something so bold.
“What inspired me initially to use Main Street Station is because it’s so Richmond and one of the biggest challenges as a Richmond planner is finding a new, exciting place to host weddings that’s interesting. Not interesting because it’s rich in history, Victorian style furniture, or overly traditional, but something that’s interesting from an architectural perspective. I love the idea of working with a clean slate but I wanted to work in this space because of its iron beams rather than the more “rustic” wooden beams I usually see in newer venues. The high ceilings, glass windows, and subtleness of the train going by were perfect accents.
“I chose to use design elements that were geometric to play along with metal beams in the space. From the cake to the chargers, to the lanterns down the aisle, I wanted that to be visible through and through. We paired these geometric elements with lush florals, marble elements, and rich linens.”
