This intimate outdoor southern wedding at Heartwood Hall featured pretty fall hues along with cozy season charm. You know we love a good fall wedding and we know you will too!
After what they affectionately called their “joke date,” Elijah and Sommer knew something was starting to sparkle between them. The two continued to grow and enjoy their friendship-turned-romance, and then on a trip to Florida, Elijah popped the question!
…What was supposed to be just a friendship became a marriage.
Elijah & Sommer
The couple’s traditional fall wedding featured the perfect colors of the season with brown hues and luxe gold’s taking center stage. The bride was escorted down the aisle after having the happiest first look with her husband-to-be. With family and friends attending the outdoor ceremony in the Four Seasons Garden of Heartwood Hall, they were surrounded by beautiful rustic details that gave the day its sweet southern flavor and charm.

How we met…
Through a mutual high school friend, we realized we had a lot of similar interests. Throughout our friendship, we kept learning more about each other and exposed one another to new things. We went on a joke date, Valentine’s Day 2016, since we had nothing else to do. What was supposed to just be seeing Deadpool and going out to eat turned into one of the most exciting nights in our lives. Being best friends blossomed into something neither of us could have anticipated. After a few years, what was supposed to be just a friendship became a marriage.
Time to get ready…
Our proposal story…
Elijah: While planning for a trip to Florida, I realized that after five going on six years together, it was finally time to propose since we were both done with college. I had her best friend and future matron of honor help me pick the best time and place to propose to her. The goal was to have Sommer completely oblivious, so I took the opportunity to propose during one (of the millions…) photo sessions she wanted to take in front of the water. She was completely surprised, and the reaction was priceless.
Our style…
Our wedding style was traditional and the theme was bohemian. We chose shades of brown and gold for our wedding colors. I wore a long mermaid-style gown with lace and Elijah wore a dark navy suit.
Our first look…
The wedding shopping experience…
The wedding shopping experience was difficult, it involved more work and planning than we thought but our wedding was beautiful in the end.
Here comes the bride…
Time to party…
We still remember when…
Ahmirah, the Matron of Honor, was walking out with Will, the Best Man, during the reception and ended up falling after wildly dancing to the music. She was able to walk away with only a bruised ego thankfully.
Cozy season vibes…
The best advice we have is that…
It’s hard to be a good couple if you can’t even be good friends. Learn what you have in common, explore each other’s interests, and learn what makes your person special to you!
