When Michael originally planned to propose to Lakesha, he envisioned Lakesha’s family being there with a big display. He wanted to do something over the top for his Hampton University sweetheart.
Instead, his proposal was quite spontaneous. While on a cruise to Bermuda to celebrate his birthday, Lakesha spotted a ring she loved. Michael knew the timing was perfect, so he went ahead and purchased the ring! On the day of their dating anniversary, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, Michael bent down on one knee and asked Lakesha to be his wife.
Lakesha and Michael like to have fun, but they also like to keep it “Grown and Sexy.” So for their engagement session, they headed to Great Falls Park in Arlington, VA for a casual shoot, and the Library of Congress for their formal shoot. MunaLuchi Coterie member BLU PRINT 2 EVENTS is planning an amazing wedding for them in the fall. See their sophisticated photos below.

Tell us your proposal story.
When Michael originally planned to propose to Lakesha, he envisioned Lakesha’s family being there with a big display. It was actually the total opposite. Lakesha planned for them to take a cruise to Bermuda for Michael’s birthday. Lakesha had always taken Michael’s birthday more seriously than he ever did. This was Michael’s first cruise ever and he could only think about how Lakesha had come into his life and shown him the true meaning of love, especially in the way that Lakesha cares about Michael.
While on vacation, Lakesha saw a ring that she fell in love with, and Michael knew in that moment that this was it. Michael purchased the ring, with no idea of how he was actually going to propose to Lakesha. They were in the middle of the ocean with no family, no helicopter or blimp display, like Michael planned. It was just Michael and Lakesha in their cabin room, and Lakesha had no idea what was coming. In their own way, that made the moment that much more surreal. Michael knew he wanted to marry Lakesha, and could see himself spending the rest of his life with her. Michael wanted Lakesha to know the same thing. So, on the day of their dating anniversary, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, Michael bent down on one knee and asked Lakesha to be his wife. The rest is history in the making!
Describe your engagement session.
The engagement session was quite an adventure, to say the least. The weather was sunny and temperatures were in the 30s, cold and ridged. However, our event planner and photographer selected and coordinated the perfect locations (Great Falls Park and The Library of Congress) to capture our casual and formal looks. We wanted our engagement session to embody our relationship and the things that we like to do. We love to take random adventures and to dress up for the occasion with a “Grown and Sexy” ambiance. Therefore, when our photographer suggested the Great Falls location, we were beyond excited to give it a try! The Library of Congress was a spontaneous and excellent location decision for our formal wear.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?

How has wedding planning been so far?
Our wedding planning experience started off being educational as well as overwhelming at the same time. Thankfully, after hiring a Wedding Planner, things have been a lot easier.
