Twenty five years later and Lavette & Eugene’s love is still burning as bright as ever. For Lavette, the secret to keeping that spark aflame is by continuing “to date each other, traveling together, and always keeping an open line of communication.” Designed by Lavette and her team at Memorable Events this luxurious vow renewal ceremony was inspired by her “love for classic weddings.”

Bride & Groom: Lavette & Eugene
When did you get married and where? Lamar Dixon Chapel, Saint Gabriel Community Center
What was your wedding like? Full of love, laughter, and joy with family and friends that we love.
As you celebrate your anniversary, what do you remember most about your wedding day? The ceremony. We had our wedding officiant have all of the married couples stand and renew their vowels with us.
Was there anything you would have done differently for your wedding? Not a thing! We LOVED everything!
What are your favorite things to do as a couple? Traveling and dining together and going new places.
Who cooks? Me! Lol he BBQ’s.
When it comes to career, what do both of you do and how do you make time for each other? I am the owner of a wedding and event décor company, Memorable Events, which definitely keeps us busy, and he is a crane operator at Cooper T. Smith. We make it a priority to get away at least once a month during the week to spend time together as it is very important to us.
What would you say are the most important elements for a successful marriage? Prayer and keeping God first. Honesty, never be scared to talk to your partner. Laughter, always make time to talk and laugh with each other.
How do you keep the spark in your marriage? LOL, happy wife, happy life. But we spend time with God, continue to date each other, traveling together, and always keeping an open line of communication.
Tell us about the shoot. What inspired it? The renewal was a dream for me. I help make other brides’ dream weddings come true and this was my day to live my very own dream. The design was inspired by my love for classic weddings. Our goal was to create a classic, but modern, elegant affair for our guests.
What do you love most about him? His gentle heart. I love his willingness to put everyone above himself and the smile on his face when he does so.
What does he love most about you? Her serving heart. She is truly a giver and will always go above and beyond to help anyone she can.
What advice can you give for newlyweds? Trust God and keep him first in all that you do. Lean on each other during your trials and tribulations. Keep family out of your business. Always communicate and never let the love die!
