The 300 acre Stonetower Winery was the perfect backdrop for Nia and Isaiah’s outdoor engagement session.
The couple met in high school seven years ago, but their relationship didn’t get serious until they bumped into each other in 2016 at Isaiah’s 21st birthday. “He was always too shy to say anything to me,” Nia recalls. “We have been together ever since!”
For their engagement session, they wanted to keep things laid back and fun while taking advantage of the gorgeous scenery the winery offers. “We always have a good time no matter where we go and I think our pictures do a great job reflecting that!”

How did you meet?
We met in high school about 7 years ago through a mutual friend who is now going to be a best man. We would see each other in person around town and he was always too shy to say anything to me. We texted back and forth for a few years and made plans but they never came through. Finally, in 2016 we met in person for the first time on his 21st birthday. We have been together ever since!
Tell us your proposal story:
Isaiah had purchased the ring a whileago and had plans to propose at my family vacation in August. Because of everything happening, he decided to do it much sooner than planned! During the second week of the Covid-19 quarantine, I began to get anxious and restless with him not being home at night and with the news stories that were emerging. He told me he was going to send me on a scavenger hunt to get my mind off of things. There were a series of riddles that had me going all over the house, that included getting to know a little of his family history (which I was completely clueless about) then to places like where we had our first and second dates. Then, ending at my family’s house where he had me put together all of the riddles to spell out “Will You Marry Me?” What I thought was just an activity to keep my mind off of reality and keep me busy for a few hours, turned out to be much more.
Describe your engagement session. Did you have a theme?
Our engagement shoot didn’t have a theme, we just didn’t want it to be too “extra” at all! We wanted our engagement pictures to be representative of who we are as a couple. We wanted to wear clothes that were comfortable and in a place that we love to spend time- a winery! We always have a good time no matter where we go and I think our pictures do a great job reflecting that!
What did you do on your first date?
Our first date was a few days after Christmas at a winter walk of lights in a botanical garden. It was beautifully lit with Christmas lights and so romantic! It was freezing, but it was the perfect time to truly get to know one another as we walked through the garden!
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
Before the quarantine, we would go to so many concerts together! One of the first times we saw each other was at a J.Cole concert and it was special to be able to go to another one of his concerts together a few years later! Now, we value the simple things together: drinking wine, watching Netflix/Disney+, and eating a good meal. We truly appreciate the little things when we are together.
How has wedding planning been so far?
To be honest… neither of us have enjoyed wedding planning. We are probably one of the most hands-off couples when it comes to planning. It’s been amazing working with vendors that are so creative and organized to keep us on track! We are excited to get to the wedding day and celebrate with our family and friends! We have always been looking forward to the experience rather than the details.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day.
We love to have a good time no matter where we are so we are looking forward to dancing with our family and friends all night! We are so thankful to have them as a great support system, so we can’t wait to celebrate with them.
