Music has the power to evoke strong emotions; it can even inspire the theme for your wedding.
Marleni and Tavon’s wedding theme was inspired by the song “Sunflower” by Post Malone. Marleni shares, “We are both huge Marvel fans. While watching Spider-Man’s “Into the Spider-Verse” we both instantly loved the Post Malone song ‘Sunflower.’ We both agreed that would be our first dance and the wedding would have sunflowers.”
They mixed rustic with glam details in their gorgeous fall wedding. To ensure guest safety, bottles of hand sanitizer were dropped at all tables, and custom masks were given as gifts.

How did you meet?
We meet in 2011 while we were both working at Olive Garden. We dated for several months, he then moved back to South Carolina for school and we decided to do long distance. But after 6 months he moved back to Orlando. Soon after that, we found out we were pregnant with our daughter Aaliyah.
Tell us about the proposal.
On our one-year anniversary, he surprised me with a trip to Cocoa Beach for the weekend. At sunrise, he woke me up and took me down to the shoreline in our PJs! He then got down on one knee and told me how much I mean to him, how much he loved me, and how he couldn’t wait to start our little family together.
Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day?
We are both huge Marvel fans. While watching Spider-Man’s “Into the Spider-Verse” we both instantly loved the Post Malone song “Sunflower.” We both agreed that would be our first dance and the wedding would have sunflowers.
Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception?
I have to give all the credit to the incredible team at Imperial Design hall. They have a variety of options to choose from for centerpieces and table set up. I wanted to have a semi Rustic theme because of the sunflowers but did not want to feel like I was in a barn. I loved the idea of having my seating chart on a window and instead of having a guest book that people would sign and then it be tucked away for years never to be seen I wanted something I could look at every day and be reminded of our day so I did the picture frame as our guest book.
What were the florals like in your wedding?
Yes! Yellow is my favorite color so having so many sunflowers in my bouquet in the centerpieces on our cake on the seating chart. It was very important to have lots of sunflowers to incorporate the yellow.
Did you personalize the day in any way?
We had a photo booth that the guests loved. We had koozies and masks as our souvenirs. We also had a chocolate fountain, so I got extra little goodies for the kids which was a huge hit.
Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look?
I had gone to several bridal stores and I always had an idea of what I wanted my dress to look like. Big elaborate with trumpet style skirt. My husband knew he wanted a suit with a black lapel. We both agreed; we wanted him to have something different than a traditional black tux. We loved the idea of a navy blue suit and very flashy shoes
What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
For me, I would have to say the walk down the aisle. I was so scared I was going to cry the whole time and ruin my make up or trip on my dress.
Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?
Set a budget and stick to it! Don’t feel like you have to invite everyone from your past. Don’t waste money on small little things that aren’t important like invitations they get thrown out by most guests anyway. Be prepared for things to go wrong, for vendors to cancel on you last minute, for people to rsvp yes and then not show up. Remember this day is about you and your partner and that is all that matters. Remember to enjoy the journey, all the months and years of planning for one night that goes by so fast!! Do exactly what will make you both happy!
