After a beautiful birthday proposal in Jamaica, Helen and Kaleem jumped the broom at The Swan House in Atlanta, Georgia, a setting you may have seen in The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1. The lovely couple opted for a simple, traditional spring wedding ceremony for the day they’ll most definitely cherish forever.

Tell us about how you met and all about the proposal!
We went to Jamaica to celebrate Helen’s birthday and on the last night of vacation, Kaleem proposed on the beach after dinner. Helen was not expecting it and cried in excitement, grinning from ear to ear, as they returned to the United States.
Helen wanted a simple, but traditional dress for her big day and that is exactly what she got. The dress provided a great neckline, plunging back that flowed to a medium length train. She went dress shopping with her mother, aunt, cousin and two best friends on Mother’s Day weekend in 2014.
Culture
We jumped the broom and had both our Grandmother and God Parents participate in that portion of the ceremony.
Our favorite memory was leaving the reception and seeing all of the neon glow sticks, making a path to our getaway car. It was just as we imagined and more.
Help a bride-to-be out!
Enjoy every moment of the day. Take some time and look out into the crowd and soak in the moment. It will be over before you know it.
