Tamara and Richard took to the beautiful Historic Georgetown in Washington, DC this past spring to celebrate their proposal! Tami and Rich decided to memorialize their engagement surrounded by cherry blossoms before their highly anticipated destination wedding at Royalton White Sands in Montego Bay, Jamaica this November 28, 2015!
Tell us about how you met and all about the proposal!
Rich: One of the things that I love to do is surprise Tami and I knew that doing something extravagant was not her style. My initial plan was to surprise her when we got back from dinner on New Year’s Eve during the champagne toast. The plan got thwarted when Tami and her best friend decided they didn’t want to go out. At that point, I had to just pick a random moment in the night and go for it.
Right after we finished dinner, everyone was getting ready to transition the night into libations, and Cards Against Humanity. I presented Tami with a Silver Rose that symbolizes both the beauty and simplicity of our relationship as well as her love and loyalty to me. When I was talking, she had the look of “this is so nice, but……….wait, what?!?!?” But what she didn’t see was the hinge on the back of the rose, where I opened it and revealed the ring that was inside. The look of confusion turned into a look of shock when I asked her to marry me.
The engagement session was captured in the historical Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC. to capture the beauty of our new hometown during Washington D.C.’s Annual Cherry Blossom Festival.
What did you do on your first date?
Rich took me to this amazing restaurant, Bluefin in Buckhead Atlanta. We continued onto one of my favorite hole in wall bars where he met some of my friends who also love him. We have been together ever since!
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
We love to explore new restaurants and we love traveling!
How has wedding planning been so far?
Wedding planning has been relatively easy since we are having a destination wedding.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day.
I am looking forward to seeing Rich’s face when he first sees me walking down the aisle, spending quality time getting ready with my bridesmaids and mom, having a special moment with my dad before we walk down the aisle and hearing his speech, and partying the night away with the people I love the most!
