Robin and Kacy may have different opinions on how they first met, but one thing is certain after they met that night at the FedEx forum they became inseparable. Last year on her birthday, Robin insisted they brave the cold and icy roads to go out to dinner even though she wanted to stay inside. When they arrived, she was unfazed as her friends and family yelled, “Surprise,” since he has brought them out for her birthday before. They were enjoying their meal and company of their guests when he leaned over and asked if she could see a forever with him, she said yes, but was still oblivious to what was coming up next. They brought out a large birthday cake and as she closed her eyes to make a wish he had laid a small gold box in front of her, which was empty, but then knelt to ask for her hand in marriage. For their engagement session, the couple wanted to take a walk down memory lane, back to where it all began. Their wedding planner Nakeisha Green introduced them to Amanda of Bel Momento Photography who created a sweet and sentimental photo shoot that the couple loved. We wish them all the best on their special day!
How They Met
Well, there is Robin version and then there is the truth. Robin and I met downtown at the Fed-Ex Forum during a social event that was taking place there. Robin would say that there was a spotlight shining on him, he was looking debonair and I followed him with my eyes around the room. And, when we finally noticed me and we made eye contact that is when he decided to speak to me and exchange numbers….Now, the truth. We did meet at Fed-Ex where I attended an event with my best friend Candice. Candice and I love to people watch, so we were conversing amongst ourselves and gazing at the crowd. While we were in deep conversation, this handsome gentleman with a navy blue suit on approaches me and introduce his self and asked if we could exchange numbers. I gave him a little smile and said sure. After the exchanging of numbers, a few conversations over the phone, and hanging out we became inseparable.
The Proposal
For my birthday on January 15, 2013, the forecast that night was snow and ice. I pleaded with Robin to stay in because of the road conditions. But, Robin was persistent in getting me out to dine at one of my favorite restaurants. When I arrived, my friends and family surprised me, which was the norm for me because he has surprised me before with friends and family on my birthday.
Next, I was surprised by the waitress with a huge birthday cake and candles and everyone singing happy birthday. Then everyone says close your eyes, count to ten and make a wish. By this time I am thinking I am little too old to be counting to ten and making wishes, but I complied with the request.
While my eyes were closed, there was a lot movement and I could feel phone flashes on me. I opened my eyes, there lie a gold miniature gift box, and I completely forgot to blow out the candles. I glanced at Robin and said what is this and he said, “Kacy stop asking questions and open the box.” I proceeded to open up the smaller box and everyone including myself gasped and said ‘Wait a minute…there is nothing in the box.” And, that’s when Robin immediately got down on knee, pulled the ring out of his jacket’s pocket and said, “Is this what you’re looking for”! I instantly dropped my head in amazement and yep the waterworks came. I did not hear his speech or him ask for my hand in marriage because I was in total shock and blanked out, but I did say YES!
The Engagement Session
Robin and I really wanted to incorporate some of the amazing landmarks of downtown Memphis where we stole each other’s heart. My amazing planner Nakeisha Green did a wonderful job by recommending Amanda of Bel Momento Photography. Amanda is truly talented and incredible photographer. And, I knew when I met her and saw how awesome her work was she would deliver exactly what Robin and I were looking for and that is capture the love we share between each other.
