There’s nothing like having a relationship in which you can completely be yourself. To know that your significant other loves you to the core of your being, and the joy of knowing that you also feel the same about them. It is as if you were made for each other. This is the kind of unconditional love bringing together Tamaika and Roy. Having been together for six years they knew for a while that they “didn’t want to live life without each other” and decided it was time to become husband and wife.

Bride & Groom-to-be: Tamaika & Roy
When did you become engaged? Feb 15, 2015
Engagement Session Location: New Orleans, LA
Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. Met: January 28, 2011. Where: Fox and Hound Sports Tavern – Baton Rouge, LA. How: Roy and a couple of his friends were at the tavern watching the Saints playoff game. I was invited by a co-worker to join them. Ironically we were only officially introduced this day. Roy was by far the most quiet in the mix of friends which sparked my interest. The following day I (being the forward, never scared, LOL.) person I am inquired with my co-worker about the shy guy that walked with a cane. My co-worker got the ball to rolling by making sure this shy guy knew I was interested and passed my phone number along. One phone call led to another…
We didn’t have a traditional engagement or proposal. We have known for sometime that we didn’t want to live life without each other so we just decided one day in 2015 that we were gonna get married and started the process of planning. Roy and I went ring shopping and the rest is history.
What did you do on your first date? A couple of weeks after we met and numerous all night never ending phone calls, Roy asked me out on a date. We arranged to meet at my favorite seafood restaurant Joe’s Crab Shack. I remember feeling totally relaxed and comfortable with him although I could sense he was somewhat nervous. I remember having a really good time and knew then and there he would be someone special.
What do you love most about him? There is so much I love about Roy but if I had to say what I love most about him it would be our amazing connection. Sometimes I can feel how much he loves me just by looking at him across a room. He knows all my secrets and I know all of his. I feel open to be just who I am with him without the fear of judgment and for that I love him most.
What do you love most about her? Tamaika is the most beautiful woman I have met both inside and out! When I met Tamaika I was walking with a cane and a slight limp from a knee surgery. Over time the cane and limp faded but Tamaika never has. She became my cane with out the limp. Her forever forgiving heart is irreplaceable, she helped me to open up and express my feelings with out being judged. What I love about her the most is she is the true meaning of love unconditional and without limits.
How did you know she was the one?
I knew she was the one when she would challenge me to be better and do better and she never backed down! When I noticed myself wanting and willing to change and grow as a man, she has definitely become an asset in my life.
What are you looking forward to most on the wedding day?
Bride – I’m looking forward to spending the rest of my life with Roy and realizing our growth as a union. I also look forward to calling him my husband and being his wife, just to know that we have that extra special bond and commitment to each other is priceless.
Groom – I’m looking forward to spending the rest of my life with Tamaika sharing successes and failures with someone who truly supports me.
