Although Tamera and Ty went to the same high school and shared the same circle of friends, they never actually met during that time. It would be later in life when something as seemingly trivial as a Facebook friend request would actually prove to be fate in action. Casual commentary on each other’s posts began to simmer between the lines with smoldering romance. Their first date, a lovely evening of delicious food, good wine and great conversation that carried them late into the evening – confirmed for each other that there was certainly something extra special between them…

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. We actually went to the same high school, have the same mutual friends, but somehow we never met each other. We became Facebook friends later in life and we began to increasingly comment on each other’s posts, and that soon turned into an unspoken romance. I (Tamera) was the first one to make the move and we’ve been moving together ever since.
For the proposal, I was having a girl’s night out with my friends and Ty pretended to be in for the night (pajamas on and all). As soon as I left, Ty put on his tux, grabbed the roses that he had hidden and drove to the venue to surprise me. It was a couple of days before my birthday, and my friends told me to come up front, they wanted to sing Happy Birthday. He had planned ahead for the band to play “If This World Were Mine” by Luther Vandross, and walked toward me…I was absolutely shocked when I found out that all of my friends were in on the surprise as well!
Describe your engagement session. Our engagement session was everything we wanted and needed it to be. We did a casual set and a more formal editorial set. We were looking for a look that you would find in magazines promoting a brand, our brand is the love that we have for each other and we wanted everyone to see that in the quality of our photos. We had a very specific look that we were going for and we were confident that Incredibly Wee Photography was our best choice to make that imagery work, we truly love what she did.
What did you do on your first date? We had a very casual first date that included a home cooked meal, wine, and incredible conversation.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple? We both love music, so anytime we get to go hear live music or catch a concert, it’s always a good time.
How has wedding planning been so far? Wedding planning hasn’t been that difficult, a little stressful just because of the occasion, but it hasn’t been overbearing simply because we both are good about knowing what we want and coming together on compromises.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day. Being over the anticipation of going from fiance to spouse, and having our friends and family there to witness where our love has led us.
