When asked what she would remember most of all from her wedding, Terelle would answer, “my fiancé…walking down the aisle on crutches to meet me….”
In Terelle, Gerrard found his soulmate; a bride in which he would stop at nothing to meet down the aisle – regardless of the pain endured to insure that their wedding day would be the most special of days.
Gerrard, a police officer, was escorting a funeral when a motor cycle accident left him with a broken leg in need of ankle reconstruction just three weeks prior to the wedding ceremony. When giving advice to future grooms, he would say, “it doesn’t take a man forever to know if a woman is a right fit for him…when searching for a soul mate ‘to thine self be true.'”
An inspiring story demonstrating how love gives us the strength we need to endure any obstacle.

Tell us all about the proposal: It happened on January 29, 2015, my last night on winter break. He came home from work that night and he said he wanted to take me out for dinner. I was reluctant because it was my last night with him and just wanted to spend some alone time, no one else. So we took a drive for ice cream and recapped about our lives together. We came home and got ready for bed. I rolled over and I hugged him and felt the box sitting on his chest under the covers and I screamed because it could have only been one thing. He said the most sweetest and charming reasons why he would want me to spend the rest of my life as his wife and with teary eyes and the biggest smile, I said YES! I had absolutely no idea and it was the perfect proposal. Quiet, sweet and stripped of all the extras- just us!
What did you do on your first date? Our first date was the usual dinner and a movie but what made it special was the way he made me feel so comfortable and made me laugh literally all night.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple? We love to eat! Anybody who knows us can testify to this. We love trying new restaurants and eating different cuisines.
Wedding Style: Understated drama is found in this fit and flare wedding dress with fitted lace bodice and folds of tulle and Chic organza creating a voluminous skirt. Finished with sweetheart neckline, and covered buttons over zipper closure.
Favorite item on the menu: Dessert – Guava panna cotta w/ biscotti. It was so good. The day after I wanted more.
How has wedding planning been so far? We actually had a wedding planner to help guide us to finding exactly what we wanted our special day to be. Five Seasons Bridal surpassed our expectations.
What was wedding shopping like for you? Because I’m still in Med school, before going to Five Seasons Bridal Boutique, I spoke to the owner, and relayed what I was looking for. So when I got to the boutique, she had several samples available for me to try and I fell in love with a Hayley Paige gown, and only wanted a few modifications. Things changed between my first visit and my second visit, and so did my body! Tennille didn’t miss a beat, and she told me about another gown she had coming in that would be perfect. So on my next visit home – she had this amazing gown set aside for me. I fell in love with it – the moment I saw it. Faith by Maggie Sottero was the gown for me, and I screamed and smiled the entire time I had it on. My mother and sister and aunt were all there and they ALL agreed – she’d chosen the perfect gown for me. Having a Bridal Consultant that knows what you’re looking for makes choosing a gown so much easier.
What is your best memory from your wedding?
Bride: The one thing that I remembered was walking into the church and making my way down the aisle to my fiancé and he then walking down the aisle on crutches to meet me filled with emotions.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples?
Groom: I would simply tell them, it doesn’t take a man forever to know if a woman is a right fit for him. I don’t think that you would instantly fall in love but you’ll see qualities in that person that you know you can definitely grow to love them and build a wonderful life together. My overall prospective is when searching for a soul mate “to thine self be true”.
Bride: I would tell other brides that it is truly a beautiful experience. It is a great accomplishment and blessing to find someone who you feel comfortable marrying and spending forever with. Be true to yourself and have God at the center of your union.
