Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. Antwone and I met September 2013 after a mutual friend suggested we go on a date. Our first date was at De’Lish Cafe downtown Dayton, OH for karaoke and dinner. Antwone sang three songs that night for karaoke and I was impressed he could actually sing. Before the night was over Antwone asked me on a second date to a comedy show. I accepted the offer to go on second date. We had a great time on both dates. At the time, I worked in Dayton, OH and Antwone worked as an entrepreneur that traveled for work. So we would hang out when he was in town. In March 2014, I received a job offer to move to Warner Robins, Ga and I accepted it. I moved at the end of June 2014 and we were not sure what God had in store for our relationship. However, it wasn’t until I move to Warner Robins, Georgia that our relationship came full circle. I was in a new city and starting a new chapter in my life. Antwone was still living in Ohio. After living in two different states, many phone conversations, text messages, and traveling to see each other our relationship evolved into something beautiful that included God, love, trust, and respect. Next came an unexpected surprise.
The proposal was on December 19, 2015 during my fiancé Antwone’s birthday trip to Las Vegas, NV. The proposal was a complete surprise planned by my fiancé. Antwone setup the surprise proposal in front of the Bellagio water show. After the Bellagio’s water show was over Antwone turned me around and got down on one knee. He said, “Terri, I love you and I would love to spend the rest of my life with you as my wife. Will you marry me?” I was totally surprised! I said Yes!
What was wedding shopping like for you? Shopping was overwhelming at the time, not being able to shop for my big day with my mother by my sides, so I felt a wave of sadness. I couldn’t share this moment with the one person I wanted to the most, my mother, who had passed away in 2008. I was thankful for the love and support of my father, friends, and family that were by my side the entire time.
I finally said yes to an Allure strapless sweetheart neckline ivory gown that hugs my curves and sparkles with intricate bead. The gown also had a sweep of playful ruffles, with a flair for drama and elegance. My dress fit was perfect on me and I felt amazing. My wedding dress was everything to me!
Antwone was looking very handsome with his ivory tailored tuxedo with black lapel by designer Miguel Wilson.
Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding? Antwone and I incorporated a unity candle symbolizing us joining our families together as one united family.

What is your best memory from your wedding? We had so many memorable moments on our wedding day. Our first most memorable moment was walking down the aisle and taking each other’s hand and repeating our vows to one another. Second most memorable moment was Antwone singing “One in Million You” by Larry Graham at our wedding reception and it was a total surprise. It was like an out of body experience for me! I still look back at pictures and videos like, wait – this really happened! I felt so much love in my heart at that moment.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? The planning process was fun but at the same time challenging. The best advice we can give to engaged couples is do not lose sight of the actual reason for the day. Keep your mind on the main thing and don’t allow other people’s (family, wedding planner, and etc) opinions to influence what you want to see at your wedding. Hire the best wedding professionals that fit your style, budget, and do not underestimate the significance of connecting with everyone of them. Professionals with great customer service will make your wedding planning stress-free not stressful. Most of all, plan your special day together and enjoy the journey to the altar. In the entire process put the Most High first at all time.
