The Brooklyn Bank Hosts Couple's Classy Wedding

After COVID canceled their destination wedding, this couple’s classy wedding at The Brooklyn Bank proved to be their dream destination!

Elba & Darnell’s love story began at a Brooklyn day party in the summer of 2016. Their initial connection quickly blossomed into something special and in the coming days and weeks, they deepened their connection over dates filled with great conversations, delicious foods, and fine wines. These elements became key components in their relationship. Traveling also became an important part of their bond. Creating new experiences together in exciting destinations eventually culminated in a surprise proposal in Rome’s Pincio Promenade in 2019!

With a ring on Elba’s finger, the pair were initially insistent on having their wedding in NY and adding in elements of their Haitian and Dominican backgrounds. But after a trip to the Dominican Republic for their engagement photos, they began planning an epic destination wedding instead. Unfortunately, COVID came crashing into their lives and all their plans came to a screeching halt. After attempting to virtually plan their wedding and even pushing back their wedding date, they ultimately decided to cancel their destination nuptials altogether.

As fate would have it, Brooklyn would ultimately be their dream wedding destination! After purchasing their first home together, they quickly pivoted to planning a smaller, local wedding in a matter of weeks to align with the closing of their home. A family friend and event planner, Ketty Delights, helped them re-imagine their dream wedding and on October 18th, 2020 in Brooklyn, NY with 50 of their closest family and friends, they finally tied-the-knot!

As their relationship grew, travel also became a key component of their shared experiences. And while they have stepped into many cities and countries around the world, no destination will leave a lasting impression like Italy. In April 2019, Darnell surprised Elba with an engagement proposal in Rome’s Pincio Promenade – she accepted.
