The hit 2017 movie, The Greatest Showman, inspired this vintage circus-themed wedding shoot in Los Angeles.
Set at the historic Ebell of Los Angeles venue, Stephanie Dijamco of Lovely Steph Creations conceptualized and designed this creative circus wedding.
From carnival-inspired wedding invitations to sweet treats and bridal attire (all influenced by the unique characters and color palette seen in The Greatest Showman!), the shoot invites guests into a colorful world of whimsical romance.
Real-life couple, Maleka and Jason, posed as bride and groom alongside a team of talented models and carnival performers. Sweet treats included a cotton candy station, popcorn cupcakes, and cute circus cookies. All of the special details were creatively captured by Chrissie Good Photography.

- Theme: Vintage Circus Romance
The story:
Inspired by the tale of the Greatest Showman, Phineas Taylor Barnum, his story takes place in the 1860s.
A penniless yet ambitious man is filled with imagination beyond his time. Creatively gathering performers with unique talents, Barnum creates a sensational circus show for all to enjoy. By bringing his vision to life, this journey comes with challenges, triumphs, and most importantly, a love that overcomes it all. The photoshoot we created is based on a circus wedding inspired by the unique personalities of the characters.
No detail is overlooked! Even the invitation suite, vow books, and scrolls include circus elements.
The actual invitation is carnival-inspired with a ticket-style RSVP card. The vow books and scrolls highlight famous and romantic phrases from The Greatest Showman. All of these details were beautifully created by Taylor Design Studio.
The various vintage mirror signage, created by Lovely Steph Creations, incorporated clever circus phrases that were both delightful and beautifully made.
Wedding Attire:
The dress for the Anne Wheeler bride is delicately handmade by the talented designer: Handmade by Yamileth.
The design is inspired by a trapeze circus costume that is short, fun, and full of glam. The bride’s makeup is a very vibrant purple with glitter accents, which represents the character’s popular trapeze attire in the film.
The groom’s suit is an interpretation of the Greatest Showman’s iconic bright red attire complete with the top hat. The custom suit was handmade by the skilled Seth the Tailor.
The stage is the perfect setting for the opera singer bride, Jenny Lind.
She showcases a grand, beautiful, and very detailed wedding ball gown. This masterpiece was also delicately hand-crafted by Handmade by Yamileth. The bride’s hair and makeup are very elegant with a deep red lip to reflect her classy character.
The overall circus looks of the bridal hair and makeup were created by the dream team, Beauty by Jill and Wendy Stylez. All of the jewelry from the engagement rings, earrings, and necklaces, were carefully designed by Carlotta Collections.
Floral details:
The majority of the florals are symbolic of the Greatest Showman’s red and gold attire added with white wedding florals. The color scheme has been used throughout the beautifully decorated ceremony by Petals and Pricklys.
The multiple ceremony rings represent the circus performances using various rings for their acts.
The stunning reception and sweetheart table florals were decorated by Little Moon Blooms. Her work truly captivated the spectacular dramatic reception vision!
The beautiful tableware such as the black vintage chargers, black wine glasses, gold flatware, and red napkin linens were perfectly selected and provided by Mun & Stars Co. The overall look with the details and spectacular floral arrangement come together and provide a magical dining experience.
Inspired by the circus setting, vintage carnival elements were also incorporated in various areas.
The reception tablescape includes circus menus and various animals holding the name place cards, both creatively designed by Taylor Design Studio. The animals represent the various animals used throughout a circus performance and the names are actual characters in the film.
Save room for dessert!
The wedding cake is carefully decorated by Sweet Darling Cakery and includes the red and white carnival elements as well as the circus animals.
Other desserts such as the popcorn cupcakes and the sugar cookies were artistically decorated by the talented Cakes by Bina. She incorporated iconic elements such as The Greatest Showman’s top hat, elephants, carnival tickets, and circus tents.
What’s a circus without popcorn and cotton candy?!
A vintage popcorn machine and cotton candy display are must items to include! The Cotton Clouds created very colorful and delicious cotton candy that was sensational!
It wouldn’t be a circus wedding without performers!
Nocturna Entertainment is filled with talented performers such as an aerial artist doing aerobatics in a ring high above and dancers doing skillful choreo. Their costumes, props, and acts truly perfected the circus atmosphere.
The large marquee letters and decorative balloons from Livis Party Design were the perfect background to this grand spectacle! Every vendor that provided the small details to the larger installments, brought this story to life.
Tying everything together is the historic Ebell of Los Angeles venue.
The vintage and romantic atmosphere is the perfect setting for experiencing the true circus romance in the beloved tale of The Greatest Showman.
